Hi everyone.....I have a weird and personal question for everyone. Since we really do not eat alot ....How often do you move your bowels? TMI I know but I have been trying to monitor mine...I have aways had probems with constipation and every now and then I would get really bad stomach pains (like labor) and then after several hours I would get the runs....I know longer get the pains and when I do go it is usually hard pebbles (again to much info) Several months ago I spoke to my surgeon and my famiy doc and they both said increase your water. This did work for a short time....Neither of them wanted me to take anything for it...I did buy MOM though and have used it occassionally. Lately though I had to take MOM like 5 nights in a row and I went and bought suppositories and took it three nights in a row and I finally went enough to make me fee comfortable. Any way my point is I have not gone since last Thursday and I was wondering if we eat enough to make us go more frequently...I really am not Worried because I know I cleaned mysef out last Thursday. What do you think? ~~hugs and well wishes~~ Chris

I go every other day and sometimes up to 3 days inbetween. I would think adding medimucil or some other liquid fiber would help alot. But we do go less.

Hey Chris, now this is just my opinion and your doctor should be able to tell you whether or not to be concerned, but I would say it is a major problem! I go almost every day. It is not always easy, sometimes it takes a while and hurts but my nutritionist and doctors always ask e about this, and I assume they ask because it is a problem that can happen. But you should definitely be going more often. I would keep letting your doctor know this is still a problem for you. Good luck! Karyn

I was having trouble here too. I spoke to my surgeon about it cause even though I went most every day it was trying to "pass rocks" Anyway he recommended adding a fiber supplement and that has done the trick. I use Fiber Choice wafers - they come in a sugar free variety and I check 2 each morning. Have not had a problem here since October

HI Chris, I have had problems since right after surgery. My surgeon gave me this prescription laxative that you add to liquid. I forget the name of it though. Sometimes, I feel like I do not know how to have a bowel movement. It is like my body forgot how to make it happen. I have to focus and spend some serious time and concentration to have a BM. Since I am now pregnant, it is way way worse. I rarely have a bm that is not "induced" in some way. I take colace, I have tried fiber bulk products, MOM and I use suppositories 3 or 4 times a week and I have resorted to an enema one time. TMI here - my stools almost get impacted and feel like I am giving birth if I go too many days without using a suppository (they are not on my allowed list) My high risk OB said that in the second trimester she would put me on Zelnorm. Maybe you could talk to your doc about that. Here is to happy potty times God Bless! Jen

Eat beans, salad and whole fruits for natural fiber. Sounds like the revenge of the plateau buster diet! Yikes!! I go 2x a day.....definately try to keep things moving. A colonic may help clear out all the old sludge building up in your large intestine and colon.

I know this was a subject I had brought up to my doctor's board, and they told me to add FiberSure, Metamucil and to eat more fruits/nuts and lots of water. I've added eating walnuts, almonds and keeping up with my fruits and it seems to be working. I like using FiberSure cause it mixes well and there is no after taste. I also bought some high fiber bread with flax seed when I do have my sandwich. I know I've been making BM's at least once a day, sometimes twice, I also found out that working out gets things moving as well. So, perhaps boosting up the fiber/water and exercise might get things moving. I hate to say this but I'm glad I am not the only one having prob's with bm's. Kelli

Hey Chris! Here's my TMI answer: I never suffered with constipation before wls, however it's been my constant companion ever since. In the beginning I was taking MOM at least 1-2 times per week, but I hate taking any kind of meds and would usually forget to take even the regular ones like vitamins, supplements and BC (uh, hello child #1, 2, and 3!! - LOL). I go about 2-3 times per week now. I have added Fiber One and bran flakes to my diet daily and have increased my salad intake because the lettuce sometimes helps. But, my absolute super-duper secret weapon is......... Jelly Belly sugar free jelly beans and sugar free marshmallows. Sounds strange, I know, but the sugar alcohols in most everything don't bother me at all. Those two items, however, will clear me out in about 4 hours. Lisa

Ok it's official, I am not normal. I go every day, 2 to 3 times a day. I have the oposite problem. It doesn't matter what I eat. Early on after surgery when I didn't drink enough I had problems but not now. When I go for my year check up I am going to ask about it. Cindy
