Plateau busters & Beans?

I am curious about the P.B. diet. I think the point is to almost totally elliminate carbs right? But beans have a ton of carbs...What am I missing?

They are a really good source of protein. That's why they are OK on the PB diet. I'm not much of a bean eatter myself. I do like them in my chili and I LOVE red beans and rice, but that wouldn't work on the PB diet

Beans are protein and the fiber in the beans helps negate the carbs you take in because your body has to work hard to digest the fiber. It's the same as net carbs on SF candy w/ maltitol, etc. You don't have to count all of the carbs because you subtract the fiber in it and it leaves the net amount of carbs you are digesting. Karla

I love eating beans and encourage you to try them. Those that work best for me are black, white and pinto. Garbanzo and red give me hard core gas. Each to their own, you have to experiment. Baja Fresh has fabulous black beans...and pintos, too, taco bell for pintos. White bean salads are found in italian delis (or recipie books). All are good rinsed (always!) and tossed on a salad. Oh lentils...how could I forget!!?? I get lentil frozen soup - Mrs Nemo's I think its called. As it defrosts I drink the liquid eventually leaving beans. I put a scoop in with some cheese and/or eggs. Or I buy them in the can/jar and do the same. Yum. Beans are what keep my system 'going' with all the protein and little veggies. I use them daily, if interested, let me know and I will tell you more hints rather than ramble on here.... Cheers,. Tiffany
