Hi all, I am almost six months postop lap rny with a question. For those of you that experienced it, when did the hairloss stop? I am taking Biotin supplements, getting the required protein, and using Nioxin products, but it still looks like Chubakka is showering with me when I get out of the tub. Not just 20-30 strands, I loose what looks like a handful at a time. I am getting afraid to wash the hair for loosing more and more and MORE!!! Any info greatly appreciated. ~Diana~

Diana, I too lost a lot of hair. Mine has stopped now and I will be 1 yr out on 1/27. It has been stopped for about a month. It began to slow down after about 8 months for me. Hang in there, it gets better. I have a lot of new growth as well, and this started to show after about 6-8 months. Leeanne

Diana: I went through the same thing that you are going through. I wish I had better news for you (TRUST ME, I DO) but my hair is STILL falling out. It is the only negative thing to come out of my WLS (yet I will still take my current body over my old hair). You will just have to ride the storm...I do not think any of those products work...you may want to save your money. I, too, took Biotin and used Nioxin...and my hair is still crap. On a positive note, I think I am the only one on this board who is still having hair loss issues...everyone else seems to be on the mend. I hope your loss stops soon!! Love and hugs, Jersey

Hi Diana, I lost a lot of hair from about 4 months to 8 months. It's actually growning back in now. I got my hair cut very short and it's coming in much healthier than it's been in years. Good Luck! Anna

I lost a lot of hair, but it has really slowed down. I have anurally thin hair so when mine started to fall out, I threatened to shave my head. but seeing how some of the people here thought I had cancer anyway, I decided that might not be the best idea. Before you know it they would have had me dead, and that is just not acceptable even in the rumor mill. I cut mine really short and it looks pretty full. Just talk to your beautician and she can tell you how to make your hair appear thicker. It is just one of the bumps in the road we have to deal with on our way to our road to a healthier life. Keep us posted on how you are doing. You are welcome to come pick our minds or experiences any time, or just come hang out with us. We are a fun loving if a little bit weird sort of group, and we always have room for more. Hazel

Hi- I'm mostly a lurker here...but I had surgery 1/19/06 and I think my hair is still falling out..not at the same rate, but falling out none-the-less. On the positive side, I have new growth, but they are in the front and about 2-3 inches now. I have never cut my hair, I just keep it long and in a headband. Some people have commented, but I figure a year from now, if I keep up my vitamins and protein, I'll have a great head of hair (and a better body) so I'm willing to wait it out. I wish I has the magic pill, but I don't. It's just a matter of time.

as everyone here said, it stop around 8 monthhs out. Also the biotin will help with new hair growth, but wont stop it. the other products dont work at all. If you go to Dame Tooters website, and look under timeline, she has an article on this. www.bariatricbytes.com The damage comes from the surgery itself. It does get better, go to a good styles and get a new cut that helps hide the loss.
