SURGIVERSARY!
Well, its been a year!!!!!!!!!
My surgery was in the early a.m. on December 27, 2005. I had Vertical Gastrectomy and its been a worthwhile adventure ever since
The main theme of my post today is gratitude. I am so thankful for having WLS, it has been such a blessing!
I have gone through many changes; physical and emotional.
Life is not perfect. I still have food struggles. Overeating and making bad food choices are both still big issues for me, but I finally feel like I am able to control them if I so chose. I no longer feel hopeless.
It surprises me daily how much my weight affected my life & I did not even realize it... I have been extremely overweight since I can remember, so I never noticed the handicaps that came along with it since I did not know any different. It is so cliché to say, but I can now walk and not be weary! I walk all over the place and it doesn't phase me! Also, just my general mobility has improved ten fold. I never understood how debilitating my weight had been.
I am still me though; and one thing I am proud of is that my personality is the same I hope to never forget the struggles I had. I hope to always remember what life was like pre-WLS.
I currently weigh 175 and have about 40 pounds left to lose before being at an ideal weight for my small frame and height... but nonetheless, I can not express how happy I am to be at the weight I am now.
I am also thankful for the support I have found here. My journey would have been harder with out you all. Each of you has helped me with unique struggles that only you would understand. I attribute part of my success to this board and each of you individually. Thank you!

Girl, you look so beautiful in both of your pictures...you have such a pretty face! What I can tell are the eyes really shine now though, as i have heard from others that see me now after I've lost weight. Congratulations on your weightloss, and good luck on the last 40lbs!!! I have about 58lbs to go for my ultimate goal weight...and like you said in your post...this board has been a part of our success!
Good Luck!!! Congratulations!!!!
