Plastic Surgery Questions - Help!
Hey Everyone!
I have an appointment with a Plastic Surgeon on Thursday. I am not quite ready for it obviously, but I want to start researching right away so that, when I am physically ready to have it, I can just go for it.
I would LOVE some input as to what I should be asking him. I have a short list already but I want to bombard him with as much as I can.
If you were going to see a Plastic Surgeon, what would you ask? Any questions would be GREATLY appreciated!
Have a great day!
Love and hugs,
Jersey Mom
I'm interested in the responses you'll get as I have a consult scheduled for the week after Thanksgiving. What type of procedures are you thinking about? I'm going to talk about a tummy tuck & lipo of saddlebags, inner thighs & hips. I would definitely check out the plastic surgery forum here for good information.
Can't wait to hear what you find out!

I asked questions about a lateral body lift. I wasn't sure if I needed a total lift around my midsection or just the tummy tuck. I asked about lipo, if it was necessary and about the shape of the belly button, since sometimes they have to make you a new one I wanted mine to be round and not the vertical slit that I have seen them do. I got a lot of input from the Cali board since about 15 people have had surgery with the surgeon I picked so I got a lot of my questions answered. You should also check the plastic surgery forum that they have here on OH. Good luck with your consult! I'm waiting till I have the money together for my two surgerys.

Oh yeah - as far as a boob job... Since I'm so deflated I'm going for a lift and implants... My doc said he could do it at the same time and that most surgeons should be able to do this. Sometime you will come across one that wants to split it up and if the reason isn't good enough it could just be because they want the extra money for the procedure.

Dana you go girlie! Actually it's great to hear that there are certain ones on this board getting close to having their PS. I too would like to get a tummy tuck, my hips are sagging and so are my arms, boobs, you name it. Not sure how far I'll go with it but Kaiser told be to wait until I am 18 months out before having the surgery because that way you can see what weight you will level off at but I know everyone's different.

I am having my lower body lift, mons-plasty and buttoc auto augmentation January 23, I am a little scared.....
Go to the Plastic Surgery board they have great stuff to offer, pictures lots of advise and experiance.
Make sure the PS you choose is very experianced in WLS patients I chose to pay more for a Dr I felt much more confident with, I had seen him at a workshop @ Barix before I even had my WLS and was impressed, I did see another very good highly recomended surgeon but chose the first one, comfort level is a biggie for me.
Ask about how long they want you to stay in the hospital, that was a biggie for me to have the extra care before going home to my family and 4 year old..
If you are just going to have a tummy tuck or even lower body lift don't forget to ask about the mons area I have read so many people complaining that the Dr didn't fix that area and if not addressed looks really strange and out or per-portion.On any day you can go to the ps forum and read someone's complaints about this area.
If you are doing the Top they have implants called gummies that are only approved for reconstructive surgery (we fall under that) and I have heard they are much better and have a longer life.
Good luck let us know how your consult goes its very scary but also an exciting finale to our journey....
HAVE A GREAT DAY
