I don't usually log into our WLS January 2006 site but I was wondering... Those who have had bypass: what amount of weight were you able to lose so far and how far are you from your one year goal? Those who have had Banding: what amount of weight were you able to lose so far and how far are you from your one year goal? Those who have had the other types in January 2006: what amount of weight were you able to lose so far and how far are you from your one year goal? I started out slowly, took me three months till I could say I lost 20 pounds but now I am right on goal for my one year. I am down 66 pounds as of today officially and believe I can lose the extra 10 pounds I want to by my January 24th anniversary. I have gone from size 30 tops to 16 and 30 bottoms to 22 petite. I got skin hanging everywhere and am now 250 down from 316.5. I have developed a wonderful sense of myself and belief that anything is possible. How is everyone else doing? Sandra

Hi Sandra: Welcome to our board.... I had Lap-RNY on January 30, 2006. I am 5'10". My highest weight was my surgery weight - 293. I currently weigh - 176. I have 3 lbs to go to get to a normal BMI. I am hoping to make it there before my 10-month anniversary. I think I will! I am 16 lbs from goal. I am hoping to get there by my year anniversary. Again, I am confident that I will. I wear a size 12 pants...and a Large top (I think my Gap turtlenecks are too loose, though...so I might be moving into medium...it depends on the cut). And, as far as WLS...life is GRAND! Congratulations on your success! Hugs, Jersey Mom

I had RNY on 1-25-06 and I started at 289. I expected to lose 100 lbs by my first anniversary. My cousin had this done and she lost about 109 lbs in her first year. However, at my four month appointment, I had lost 76 lbs and my surgeon was quite surprised. He said he would have thought I would have been at -50 or so. He indicated that as long as I felt okay and if my labs were still good, that I was fine. Labs were fine. In September, when I was at 179, he said I would probably lose about 20 more lbs and then gain about 10 lbs in lean muscle mass since I had lost so quickly. I am extremely happy with my progress so far and this has far surpassed any expectation I had of the weight loss - now the really hard part starts - maintaining and returning to the "real" world. Have a great day! Rhonda -122 lbs.
