Need a little help

I haven't been to this board since probably March.... wish I had stuck around because as I read the board, I can see how incredibly supportive all of you are. I'm having a problem with an old habit of mine - overeating. After my surgery my goal was to eat a little at each meal, but to "appear" as a "regular" person - not a post-op gastric-bypass patient. I did this for my children and so that I wouldn't make people feel uncomfortable around me or ask me a million annoying questions about my eating habits. Anyhow, now I just don't know if I'm eating normally for a post-op patient or not. I've been reading your daily meals and I really think I can hold a lot more food than most of you. I seem to be constantly hungry, and I'm pretty sure this is due to me pushing myself to be able to eat more. I'm so scared that I may have messed up! The first time I ate an entire hamburger (small, but bun included) I called my surgeons office and they said it was fine, but I just feel that I can eat too much. Today I had: Breakfast: Coffee and Slim Fast Lunch: Lean Cuisine Lemon Chicken and Rice Snack?: Hot Dog (I was out shopping and didn't bring a snack) Snack: String Cheese Dinner will be Meatloaf, mashed potatoes and green beans. Am I just not getting enough protein to sustain me? Can someone help? Thanks! P.S. I understand that none of you probably remember me, so I am really sorry to dump all of this on you, I am just really confused and frustrated right now. Thanks in advance for any advice!

How is your weight loss? If you're still losing than it probably is ok. Are you exercising? That makes a difference. I seem to be eating more than I used to and I have regain an appetite. I do notice that I'm hungrier when I've had carbs during the day. Also I haven't been to the gym in over 2 weeks either. My scale has stayed at 149.5 for 6 weeks now. I have to get my butt in gear again!! Kathy

I do exercise - but not religously. My weight was been at a steady 159 for the past month or so - it only fluctuates during the day, but every morning no matter what, that scale says 159. I'm just really scared that I screwed up somewhere since I haven't been speaking to other post-ops and I'm not attending classes or support groups. I just need someone to tell me I'm normal LOL!!!

I can only tell you that I can not eat a hot dog and bun at all, way too much. Other than that, the lean cuisine is only about 4oz. of food once you get past the water in it. Now how much of the meatloaf? And I can eat a fair amount of potatoes, like 4oz., but it is not a good carb so I try to stay away fromit. If you are worried about protin, then go to fitday.com and track all you eat, it will tell you how much you are getting and you should be getting at least 70g a day, which I don't see in what you are eating. I also would try a different drink other than slim fast, way too many calories and too few protein for me. I use Profect powder from GNC, which is 25g of protein for 100 calories. That is all I can say from what you posted, but you should be asking your surgeon. You are going to follow ups with them aren't you? And you are taking your vit. and getting at least 64oz. of water? Another important thing. Oh one last thing, you should have a snack in the am also, that way you wont be as hungry as much. I don't think it is all too much, just maybe some better choices.

Thank you. I know that I'm not making smart choices anymore, falling back into old habits. It's very easy to do when you are on your own. I think I'll start hanging around here again to shift my butt into gear! Thanks for your replies. If nothing else, I will at least start paying more attention to what I am puting into my body.
