I have a new job--kinda
I started working for Manpower temporary services a couple of weeks ago. Well, they finally called with my first assignment last week. It was as a part time customer service rep at Culligan Water. Before I could get the assignment I had to go there(to Culligan's) to take their company's test. There were 4 other people there to take the same test for the same TEMPORARY, PART TIME job. I thought that was quite odd, but hey, I need a job so I can save for plastics. The test was in 4 parts and I knew I did fine on three of the parts, and wasn't so sure on the last part. Well, come to find out only 2 of us passed the test. That made me feel good that I passed it. Well, they interviewed both of us that passed & I got the job--(temporary). In the inerview they asked if I was still going to be looking for a job & I was honest & said yes that I am really looking for a permanent, full time position, but I would take this assignment. They said ok & I've been there 1 week so far. Well, today the general manager called me into the office and asked if I would be interested in staying on PERMANENT as a FULL TIME rep. He has to wait to see if the girl that I'm filling in for is going to come back or not. She's been on disability for almost a year & her benefits are running out. He just wanted to know if I liked the job enough to stay there.
I was thrilled, because one of the jobs that nobody likes to do is collections on delinquent bills. Soooooo of course they gave it to me....guess what? I love doing collections--I always have.
Sorry this is so long, but I'm thrilled to be asked to stay on...now let's just hope the girl decides that she doesn't want to come back. I guess that's not very nice of me is it? I hope she does what is best for her and that it works out best for me too. Is that nicer?
Hey Culligan Man...think of me the next time you hear that commercial

Thanks Ronna,
I'm really enjoying it so far. I'm taking orders for service calls, setting up the service mens routes and doing collections. It's really interesting & it's a small office--only 3 other girls, myself and our general manager in the office. There are 7 or 8 service and delivery drivers in the wharehouse too.
I just finished reading your posts about your breast problems. How are you doing now? Still painful? I hope everything turns out ok for you.

Karen,
Thanks for the reply. My general manager told me today that the job is mine if I want it and he will either "buy out" my contract with Manpower or increase the money that he pays them so that I can go from $8.00 an hour (that's what Manpower pays me) to $9.50 an hour. He's not sure which he has to do because when he called Manpower he told them it would be a 2-3 month position. I'm really glad...I know that $9.50 isn't alot of money, but it's a beginning.
