A Non Op Lurker
Hi everyone,
I was scheduled for RNY on Jan. 31 2006.I had all my pre op tests done, quit smoking and was a week away from having the surgery. I was getting more and more nervous as the days went by. It was debilitating to say the least. I would cry most of the day and could not sleep. To make a long story short, I chickened out! I cancelled the surgery!
I tried dieting one last time and so far have lost 120 pounds. I have basically followed the low carb, high protein, tons of water lifestyle that most RNYer's follow. It hasn't been easy but I know I took the easy way out compared to all of you who had the surgery. You definitely have it tougher than I do. So for all those that tell me how proud they am of me and that I didn't take the easy way out, I set them straight! I let them know that having the weight loss surgery would have been alot more difficult and not the easy way out!
I have been lurking on this board since the beginning of January and I wanted to tell you all that I think you are so brave for having this surgery. I've read your struggles, your pains, your accomplishments and your wow moments. I feel like I know you all even though you don't know me. You are all wonderful caring people. I know for sure you didn't take the easy way out. If it were easy, I would have gone through with it. You have so much to be proud of. I applaud you all!
Thank you for being such a big inspiration to this non op chicken, lol.
Hugs,
Salina
Hey Salina:
Welcome! I cannot believe you are saying that you took the easy way out! Changing your lifestyle completely is HARD...whether you had the surgery or not! There is no easy way out.
I have to tell you...I am WICKED impressed that you lost 120 lbs since January without having the surgery. That is discipline! Major props go out to you, Chickie!!
Please feel free to join our little family! We would love to hear from you.
Have a wonderful weekend and, again, big time congtratulations on your incredible success!
Love and hugs,
Jersey

Salina,
What a wonderful post. You have a lot of courage to do what you are doing. Being chicken would have been cancelling the surgery and then going right back to the way things were and probably putting on more weight.
Everyone has to do what is right for them. And it sounds like you have found something that works for you.
Congratulations and keep up the good work. Don't be a stranger!
Leeanne
