I am getting my first and ONLY tattoo on Oct 21st in rememberence of my father passing last yeat and my WLS transformation-I am planning on getting a fairly large lower back piece done and was wondering what to possibly expect as far as pain-my husband has two but they are on his upper arms and he said it didnt hurt that bad but I was wondering about the lower back area? PLMK~ Thanks-Lori

Hi Lori, a few weeks ago I posted a similair question on the sex board and got some interesting answers. My query was why people think they are attractive. Pain came into people's responses...something they definately felt due to the tender nature of that area. But they all seemed to get over it. HTH, Tiffany

I have a butterfly with some tribal markings on my lower back. It was 9 years ago and I don't really recall all the much pain. However I was really drugged up on antidepressants at the time. I do recall it hurting on my spin, but the one on my ribs hurt worse. To me getting a tattoo was a high. It felt good because I could actually feel it. A lot of people I know seam to "get off" on the pain of it. I got my last tattoo in 2002 and it hurt.... In all though the pain was well worth it... I think its great that you want to show your respect to your father in a tattoo. Best of Luck to you. PS PLEASE look in to who is doing your tattoo and how they clean their tools!!!!

I have a lower back piece and honestly it didn't tickle. It was a little painful but well worth it! Just do your research, and take some tylenol before hand and you should be fine. Dana
