You know since I had my surgery I have problems with constipation. Anyone else? I tried everything water, fiber, etc nothing works. I now take 1 exlax every day and it keeps me regular is this bad? Also, why do we need b12 or b complex. I seemed to have missed that part. ~Norma~

ok----I'm no doctor, Norma, but I'm alarmed at the ex-lax everyday---maybe it's just my ignorance and everyone will correct me...but I've always heard that laxatives everday are what makes it harder (in the long run) to produce regular movements.... the b12 is for our brains, that's the extent of what I know-----paltry, huh?!? Norma please talk to your doctor regarding your constripation issues. Exlax was not made as a daily supplement.

Norma I too am not a doctor and I do not play one on TV. When I was constipated I asked my doctor what he could recommend and his answer was "do not take any laxatives just increase your water." I thought yeah right easy for him to say. But then I also mentioned it to my family doctor and he agreed with my surgeon. So in the last eight days I increased WATER...to at least 64 ounces plus other fluids and I have been going daily if not every other day....As far as the b12 goes it also helps keep your energy levels up and keeps you feeling healthier. Are your b12 levels low? I was not told to take b12 supplements...Only vitamins. ~~hugs and well wishes~~ Chris

also----I do sublingual b12 daily... also have you tried fibersure or the smooth move tea? I also 'keep things rolling' by eating some good fat each day: like avocados, etc... Cathy

Hi Norma-as far as the constiaption issue goes I have never been one to go daily since I was a child and now that I have had surgery I really dont go-the only time I am regular is right before my monthly visitor and other than that I have to take M.O.M. every two to three days to go usually-Ive also tried flaxseeds and other things and I was told by my nutritionalist drink more water, get in exercise etc etc however I exercise daily between 30-60 minutes of cardio and I drink over 100 ounces of H2O per day and it hasnt helped me-good luck in finding something that gets you moving becaause I know constipation can be a real pain in the butt! haha Have a great day : ) Lori

b12 is for the brains and nervous system, keeps everything charging correctly and is very important. for the other issue, i've been told water and ensure you have some natural fat in the diet, that's what lubricates that bowels for just such purpose. (avocado, butter, olive oil)

I have to have B-12 shots once a month. It is for the nervous system and our brains and for energy, and it keeps the bruiseing down. (I looked like someone beat on me daily.) The surgery can produce a condition call percocious anemia and B-12 regulates that. I haven't had constipation problems for awhile. I drink, exercise, take fiber and allow some fat in my diet. I go on the average of every couple of days. I worry about so much laxative. Hazel
