Banning Ultra Thin Models
I just read today that Spain is barring ultra thin models from appearing in the media for fear it will put negative body image to younger children, primarily girls. All I have to say, IT'S ABOUT TIME!!! I am doing my thesis based on self-esteem, body image and so forth and the research that has been done is so depressing on how we evaluate ourselves and our perceptions of what others evaluate us as being, truly body dissatisfaction is one of the reasons I got my surgery...though the medical was important, acceptance in society is equally important. So, hat's off to Spain for implementing something that was long overdo. Hopefully, the US will catch on and start finding "realistic" women to portray success and happiness, not some toothpick.

I agree with you 150%!! Ya Spain. I think that's awesome you are doing your thesis on self-esteem and body image. Probably something that really needs to be worked on. I know it was a lot of what motivated me to do my surgery too. Thesis for Master's or Phd??? I hope you share some of your 'findings' and research with us. I am sure that we would all find it interesting.
