Hang in there!  I know what you're going through as we're dealing with my MIL's health issues and doing more caretaking for her.  Plus, I'm going to lose my job at the end of the year and will have to try and find something new in this horrible economy and job market!  And yeah, I've gained back close to 20 pounds so need to get serious about exercising again and stopping the snacking & stress eating.  Guess food will always be an issue for us, but we can do this!

Take care!

Hi Pat,

The past 4 years have gone by pretty quickly, haven't they?  Congrats on your surgiversary!

I pretty much lurk around and it's sad that this forum isn't as active as it used to be.  A couple of January '05 people post on the WLS Grads Forum, so you may want to check that one out.

I did see a post on the Grads Forum a few months ago that one our January members, Vickie J., passed away unexpectedly from a bowel obstruction (I'm pretty sure that is what is was).  Evidently she was on vacation and started having symptoms and the hospital didn't catch it in time.  Just a reminder to us all that no matter how far out we are, we need to monitor ourselves and be really diligent about getting expert medical care when we notice a change in our health.

Take care!

Hi Rhonda!  Congrats on your surgiversary!!  The gain you reported sounds typical for many of us, although I'm glad to hear you're still off all your meds and feeling good.  Keep up the good work...maintainence is hard, isn't it?

Topic: I CANNOT BELIEVE IT'S BEEN 4 YEARS!!!!!
Hi everyone!

I just can't believe that it's been 4 years since my lap rny on January 10, 2005.

I've been well, as I hope that all of you have been!!

I am finding harder to say no to food and have put on some weight.   I started out at 263 pounds
and at my lowest was 150 pounds.  I am only 5 feet tall.  Oh what I would give to be taller!!

I haven't posted since July of 2008, and have just been lurking to see if anyone from 2005 has
posted recently.  I really do miss the almost daily posts from back then.  I really feel that it helped
to keep me more motivated.  I know that I never want to be where I was before surgery and
all of my health problems.

Well, I'll say aloha for now and hope that more people from January, 2005 starting posting
again or maybe I'm not in the right forum.  If that's the case, will someone please let me know.

God Bless and take care.

Love and aloha,
Pat

I just realized that today is my 4 year surgiversary. I am still in awe! Yes I have gained some back, about 25 pounds, but its a long way from where I was four years ago. I am off all meds and feel like a million.

I have NEVER tracked these statistics ... before or after surgery.  I guess I admired those that do... but for me ... I know it's my snack foods - I like to eat through my pressures at work.

Sounds like typical gain from 20 -50lbs I"m seeing in those about 4 years out... do we simply get complacent?  I don't know ... I have to say that I have made LIFE LONG changes but I guess not enough of them.  I still do my vitamins and protein faithfully but snack way too much I know and well the gym and I have never had a long lasting relationship but I have a co-worker that has been encouraging me to go with her 3 times a week and I think that is a step in the right direction even if I haven't been able to go with her all 3 times each week.  I at least make it once a week.  I was thankful for 4 yrs weight loss was not on my New Years Resolution list/thoughts but it was this year ... I want to loose 30 lbs could loose 40lbs without any concern from the doctor but I'm comfortable with 30.   I had studied personal friends that had the weight loss and knew weight gain was common but I just knew I would be and do better than them but here I am ...

Okay - I have to confess as well to someone ... even if you never read this.  I too have gained 40 lbs and feel like HOW in the world did I allow that to happen.  I was 143 and now 184 and I'm crazy.  I've been at 184 for almost a year but still ... why did allow it?  I know I still look good but I want to look and feel GREAT again like I did at 143.  The doctor did not want me at 143 but at one 150 I quickly accomodated his request and before I realized it I was at 160 and then ....  Today is my 43rd birthday and I of course took some time to assess my life today and I am hopeful that I'll kick myself in the butt and get back to some good habits at the gym and avoid the potatoe chips and snack foods I crave that go crunch crunch crunch.

Oh thanks for your confession.

It looks like there are quite a few of us out there at this stage.  I had my surgery Jan 2005 and lost 150 lbs.  I have kept it off, but recently put on  7 pounds.  I don't want it to go farther.  We need HELP!

I decided to visit the board tonight for the first time in a year. In a nut shell, sick mom, sicker MIL, new house, new school for kids, new businesses, busy, busy, busy.
I have put on 40 lbs. and hate how I look and feel. I am shopping in Lane Bryant again for bras.
My hubby has put on even more weight, but he won't admit it.
I got a used stationary bike to exercise on, but haven't tried it yet. Maybe tomorrow.
I eat too fast, too much, and get pain afterwards.  I yawn like crazy, have nausea, and cramping.
Oh, yeah....and I am going through MENOPAUSE, TOO!!!!!
Could be worse, I suppose. My children are my blessing. They are perfect.
Seasons Greetings all!
