Topic: RE: Are you "tempted" more now??
Hi Donna! I know exactly what you mean!!! As you can see by my earlier post I am really strict with my diet and exercise, but have only lost 5 pounds since March 6, 2006. I had TT on that date and my ps told me that is approximately the amount of extra skin and fat that he removed. I get really down on myself because I start to wonder if it is worth adhering to my strict food intake and exercise. Is it really worth it? When I haven't lost any weight since being 12 months post op. I get really down on myself when I see people that have lost 150 pounds or more. I am only 5 feet tall and should really weigh about 110-115 pounds. I started at 261 and currently weigh 130 pounds. So I'm still not really in the normal range for my height. My surgeon told me that apparently my body has reached its comfort zone and that I should be happy with what I have lost so far. I hate to be greedy, but I see pictures of other post ops where they've gone from a 3X and now wear a size 4 or size 6. That's when I get really depressed. It would be great if we could get more January, 2005 post ops to start posting again so that we could support and encourage each other as we did right after our WLS. I hope others read this post as a cry out for help!!! Take care and God Bless. Lots of aloha, Pat

You are absolutely correct. I know for me I would like to be at a lower weight than the doc has me at. Dr says 150lbs which is where I am at but I want to be at 130lbs so that I too many not feeling so threatened by a few here or there. Not to indulge--but simply have a comfort zone. I like to nibble more too. I love crunchy items - pretzels, chips, crackers, carrots, any thing crunchy. What has help is those 100 calorie snack bags. It's portion control for me.

Hang in there Donna! It sounds like many of us are enduring the same trials & temptations. I have good days and not so good ones. I'm finding my worst times are at night. I just want to nibble constantly. So far, my weight has stayed within my "range" (I give myself a 3 lb. + or - range so I don't freak out over every little ounce) but I've been hanging close to the top of my range and that doesn't make me happy. We will have to keep encouraging each other! Hugs! Vickie J.

Topic: RE: Still using protein supplements?
Yes, I am still drinking my protein 6oz in the morning when I take my vitamins and 6oz at 3pm. On some days I drink 12 oz in the morning and 12 oz at 3pm however on those days I've used it as a meal replacement and will not eat lunch as I will get to busy at work. I liked the questions because I was wondering this as well. I like the protein drink; I use Muscle Milk Mocha Joe flavor. I was also wondering if increasing protein intake would help me loose some more weight? I am at the goal the doc says is good 150lbs but I'm short 5'4" and 130 would be a more comfortable weight and according to the BMI calculator a better weight for me. So, I'd like to loose 20 lb more ... If increase intake of protein can help .... I would like to know. Donna 248/150 5'4"

Vickie, I haven't been good at all about reading and posting, but I find myself "tempted" more so I got online tonight to read and get re-energized. To see my January family experiencing the same thing gives me comfort but still know I have to get in under control. Thanks for sharing.

Topic: RE: How many calories should we intake at this time
Howdy Stacy, We have the same surgery date. I have never been a calorie counter before or after surgery I know that works for many people but I've never been able to do it. I do compare calories when deciding between two different products. I know that I eat more than in the beginning and I still do my protein drinks and faithfully get in 65grams of protein and then whatever and I do mean whatever I want to go along with it. I am not the norm because before and after surgery I do NOT like chocolate, soda, or sweets. So it's easy for me to stay a way from those. I love however crunchy things like carrots, chips, pretzels, and crackers. Those snack foods that add up quickly. I know ... I'm no help but want to share.

Hi Stacy! How have you been? I must be one of the few exceptions. I still only consume about 600 calories per day. I still drink one protein shake per day and take 2 multi-vitamins, biotin, B-12, iron and calcium. I just saw my surgeon 2 weeks ago, and he told me that if this works for me, that it's all good. I use the treadmill 3X a week and also go to 24 Hour Fitness. I drink about 140+ oz. of water everyday. I mainly eat veggies and 4 oz. of a protein, normally chicken or fish. I also do only 2 meals per day, and my surgeon said no snacks from the very beginning right after surgery. Hope this helps. I really feel that it is an individual thing. Take care!! Aloha, Pat

Stacy, I eat around 1800 calories a day. I walk 4 or 5 times a week and I have pretty much been maintaining for several months. I eat alot of veggies, fruits and meats. I eat an ocassional chocolate also, but I buy the sugar free ones. I still eat a protein bar and have one to two shakes a day, too. So far its working for me. I would like to lose another 7 pounds or so, but my doctor says no more losing. I am 5' 8" and now weigh 162 lbs. I am very comfortable where I am. Rhonda 312/162/155?

Hi Stacy! I hang out at the Grads Board and it seems that everyone eats a different amount of calories per day depending on their personal needs. I eat around 1600-1800cal per day.For many, this would cause them to gain, but it has helped me to maintain for several months now. I work out at least 5x's per week~I do the 5mile WATP dvd, Chicometrics 2x's per week and live a very active lifestyle. I still try to push protein first~cottage cheese, cheese sticks, chicken breast, etc. I don't totally cut out carbs, but I try to eat mostly good carbs although I do love my Wheat Thins, LOL! I've found some can eat carbs and not gain and others eat some carbs and instantly gain weight~again, everyone is so different! I don't do fried foods either~they don't appeal to me at all. Breads and pastas still don't sit well in my pouch so I don't eat those either. I love salad w/deli turkey, cheese, croutons and ranch! If you'd like to join us on the Grad's Board stop in anytime! There's alot of wisdom there and I get so many good ideas! Tracy B 328/150 5'9"
