Topic: RE: What ya eatin 10 months out?
I usually drink a protein shake for breakfast, eat a south beach bar for snack, tuna salad on one piece of bread with tomatoe for lunch, snack- fruit or another protein bar, for dinner I eat the meat and veggies from the meal I fix for the rest of the family. My cravings are chocolate--especially when aunt flo visits. Now I'm craving something creamy-what I don't know. I haven't found anything that looks like it will take care of the craving. I find I eat more if I am not busy, I snack on pretzels and popcorn. With two children, halloween will be a real test this year. Chocolate is my drug of choice.

Hi Rhonda! I will be 10 months post op on November 10th.
My meals are pretty much the same, except that my doctor doesn't allow any snacks.
Breakfast: Protein Shake
Lunch: 3-4 oz. of chicken tenderloin, and veggies
Dinner: same as lunch
I drink about 130-145 oz. of water. Most of the times its Crystal Light, or Diet Snapple.
I know what you mean about the craving. This week I craved broccoli.
Strange isn't it
Take care and keep up the awesome work!!!!
Aloha, Pat

Topic: Husband has a WOW (me too!)
I woke late last Saturday morning to discover that my husband had already:cleaned the kitchen, cut the front and backyard grass, washed and folded 4 loads of clothes, and fed and clothed both kids. He also vacuumed and dusted. Then he played four rounds of miniature golf with our son.
I thought I had crossed over to twilight zone ( cue spooky music). Mister lazy never did housework unless FORCED. Then, it always started a fight. Husband explained that he had a lot of energy all of the sudden. Lights are on. I clicked. Oh, yeah... I did that too at 3 months out.
Anyway, this weekend is our anniversary. We will see if he really has lots of new "energy". Wink. Wink, nudge, nudge, kwim?
Topic: RE: Let's talk diet staples?
Ok My staples are a Latte in the morning, but my problem with that is I love the regualr too much. I do get the fat free at times but the whole is just too good.
Sometime about 10ish I do have my protein shake.
For lunch I will usually have whole grain melba toast with low sodiumn munster or cream cheese. I have a real hard time with the low fat stuff it just tasts nasty.
dinner is protein and veggie.
I get hungry at night lately for something. This is a feeling that I do not like but I keep drinking my water.
Oh and I have reached the Century club.
Peace n Light Chris

Topic: RE: Let's talk diet staples?
My surgeon says no drinking during meals because it will flush the food out too quickly. Basically we lost length in our intestines, where all of our absorption occurs. To compensate for the lack of length we need to keep our food bolus relatively solid and not soupy, that way it goes through more slowly. If we drink or have a watery type of soup, it makes our chewed food very liquidly, and therefore moves through our GI tract moire quickly, giving us less oppertunity to absorb the nutrients. My nutritionist says the the majority of the calories are absorbed in the begining of the process but the vitamins and mineral we need are absorbed easier towards the end of the process, so if we flush our food, we are getting the calories but barely any of the nutrients that we need. So basically both my specialists agree that drinking is bad, however they differ on the reason why. LOL!
HTH!

Topic: RE: Let's talk vitamins & supplements!
In the morning before work I take biotin, iron and a sublingual b-12. I take a chewable multi at lunch, and am supposed to take my calcium (which I swallow) mid morning and bed time. I am good about my vitamins, but am forgetful with the calcim. My labs came back fine.

I usually sip with meals. Can someone tell me why we are not supposed to drink with meals, or before and after. I have never had a clear answer. I have no problem getting in enough food (scarey).
