Topic: RE: 10 lbs. per month for RNY? What about banding?
Patricia, I too, considered the band to begin with. But... I have found by reading that rny is more successful (I am by NO means saying the band is unsuccesful). I have lost 117 lbs since January 18. I would do it again in a heartbeat if I had to. Read everyhthing you can on both procedures. Knowledge is the key. Also visit the lapbanders board.

I am just walking yet. I don't have much extra time in my schedule right now but I hope to start doing some aerobics or pilates as winter sets in.

Becky that is terrific. On 11/20 I am going roller skating for the first time since surgery. I can't wait to have more confidence out on the roller rink and not be worried about falling and not being able to get up.

Topic: RE: HUNGRY!!!!!
I thought it was just me going through this. I too have been craving the "Junk" food. I am not necessarily hungry but craving it. I started chewing gum when I get the urge to eat chips and it helps for a while but after a couple days I have to give in and eat a couple to stop the hunger.
My weight loss has slowed down as well. I am losing about 5 lbs a month now.

Thanks Sandy. I feel wonderful. I am doing things now that I haven't done in 20 years. Congrats on the fantastic weight loss. Your body is probably playing catch up. I was on a 6 week plateau until recently and it does suck. I hope your start losing again soon.

Topic: 10 lbs. per month for RNY? What about banding?
Hi everyone...
I've been considering surgery for about a year. I had an appt for consultation with Dr. Noel Williams, University of Penn, PA in April but had to cancel to help my Dad with his recurring lung cancer and need for treatment. I am glad I did. It is a gift to have time to spend with a parent who is dying. It gives you time to make sure they know you love them at least.
I am blown away by your results!
You RNYr's are experiencing 10 lbs. per month loss? I am BMI 44 and need to lose 120 at least. I am fearful of the invasiveness of RNY but the banders seem to not be getting the same results and I don't / can't fail.
Please help me understand. Do lap bands really help as much as bypass? I am waivering. Can I just go on Jenny Craig and not have to worry about what to eat? Aren't we all emotional eaters?
Enough for now.. I'll ask more later. Thanks in advance.
Topic: RE: Watch Out!!!
Cindy... I know a research scientist who has enlightened me about enzymes. Of course you know they help with digestion... my question is after surgery either lap or RNY can one still take things like this? Can I take Extended release medications? I think I read that my use of Advil will have to stop. Also no alcohol or aspirin products. Am I correct?
Thanks.
