I had surgery 3 years ago on the 12th of January, to me I am a success I started at 300 pounds and was in a size 30.. Today I am in a size 8 to 10 depending on what i wear and I weigh 150 pounds. I just had 12 pounds of skin cut off my lower belly and feel great most of the time.
Let me get to why I have come back to obesity help.
I seemed to be depressed and I cry alot of time. I screamed at my children, my husband and coworkers. I can go off in a heartbeat on anyone.
Can I take and antidepressant. I never felt like I would have to take anything but nothing seems to help. My family is at their wits end with me. I am 34 years old have 5 wonderful children, a loving husband and i think if I don't take care of my problem, am going to lose them.
Please any advice will be great.
Thanks
Melissa

I can so relate Stephanie. I am glad 2007 is behind me. I lost my job after I had WLS. Financially, it has been a disaster. In addition, my father was diagnosed with cancer in the beginning of 2007 and passed away in October. For 6 months, my brothers and I provided round the clock care for him. I pray that time heals all wounds cause I am suffering pretty heavily right now. I would be happy to listen anytime. I understand.

Yeah, It has been 3 long years for us, I went from 331 to 210, I wear between a size 14 to 18 jeans. I have gained some of my weight back, 2007 was a difficult year lost my grandmother on Jan 26, 2007 and then 5 mos later I fractured my foot and was stuck in a boot for almost 6 mos. I hoping to have a better year this year. So now when I have anniversay I have remember my Grandmom. I think a lot of it had do grief and sometimes I am still grieving. Time heals all wounds, Thanks for listening,
Best Wishes,
Stephanie

Yes, it does not seem like 3 years. I started at 312 and got as low as 162 for about a day and then leveled off at 167 for a long time and the SUGAR bug got me too. I am now at 173 and pretty much stay there. I am horrible at exercise. I went from a size 26 to a 12 -14, so am pretty happy with that. I am 5'9" so even at 173 I still look ok. All I wanted was to be healthy anyway. Am to old for the super model craze! I am going to try and get back in the 160's for my own comfort, hopefully I can do it.

Happy Anniversary Januarians! I started at 235-240 pounds, dropped to 160 and am up to 169 with a commitment to get to 145 in 2008. I feel as though I never hit my goal...sometimes I think my friends and family must think, "Wow, she even had WLS and she's still not skinny." I would agree with Linda completely...if I could hit the rewind button, I would NEVER let sugar pass my lips and I would have worked much harder the first year to get the weight off and establish good habits. I got too comfortable too quickly and before I knew it, 18 months had passed and I hadn't lost weight since month 5 or so. (It's hard to remember now.)
On the bright side, I also remind myself of the great changes I've made and if someone said I had to have WLS every year to maintain, I wouldn't hesitate! It has been, by far, the best decision for me. I'm happier, more confident, and healthier overall. One of my new staff saw a picture of me from years back and asked who that was in the photo--I tend to forget the journey and where I started.
Best wishes to you all for a happy, healthy 2008!

Okay everyone, I am sure there are a lot of lurkers out there, who check this board often. So....as we approach our third year anniversary, how about letting us all know how you are doing? I will start. I dropped 190 lbs, gained 10 -15. I am currently working to lose that. I am still thrilled with my decision to have surgery. I went from a size 30-32 to 14's. If there was one thing I would change? I would never, ever let the sugar demon back into my diet. I fight that demon constantly. Happy Anniversary to all.

Yes, I'm right there with ya! My iron levels have been in the toilet for the past year and at first my surgeon had me up the amount of OTC iron I was taking....but it didn't work. Last month he gave me a script for a prescription iron supplement called Repliva. Won't have blood labs drawn again for another 3 months so will have to wait and see if this new med works. I've noticed I don't feel as tired as before (don't know if this is just wishful thinking on my part or if it's actually working) and the best thing about this supplement is that it does not constipate me like the OTC iron supps did....woohoo!
Have you been on any prescription iron therapy or just taking OTC stuff?

Topic: RE: Poll- 2 years post op, how much have you lost? Gained?
I know that it's almost been 3 years but I finally got access back on OH!!
1) starting weight~332
2) lowest weight ~98
3) current weight~104
4) how many ounces can you eat ~about 4 to 6 depending on what it is!
5) apprx calorie intake ~about 900 but trying to increase it!
6) how much do you excercise ~I used to everyday but since I'm having such a hard time maintaining weight I stopped
7) how much water a day~ about 70 oz.
8) anything you still can't eat~ Many things!! Chicken, pork, rice, potatoes, sugar in general, corn, broccoli...the list goes on and on!
9) Back to old habits~ No but some days I wish I could eat more because I am so unhealthy at this point!
10) Are you still trying to loose, if so how much ~ No, I'm trying to gain!
Topic: still anemic
Hope all of you are healthy and happy! I am doing great. I have maintained at 143-150 now for two years. I have noticed I've been up 5lbs regularly the last couple of months so I know I need to up the eating awareness and activity.
My only lingering health issue is anemia. I have struggled with this now for over 2 years. I now take 6 iron capsules a day but last time I was checked my iron was still low. I have had every test available to look for bleeding and through the process have had a hysterectomy due to heavy periods, hoping to cure the low iron. It is time for me to go get my blood drawn again and if it is still low, they will probably do something (they've talked of an iron infusion.) I am hoping after that I will be more energetic.
My husband and I had started a running program and it was going great until he hurt his back. Since then we haven't gotten back on track. When we were running, it was very obvious that I didn't have the stamina I should have been gaining. I have a friend who is a Dr and she said it is very likely the low iron. I don't know if she was trying to make me feel better or if it could actually make that much difference.
Is anyone else having this problem of anemia? What are you doing for it?
Thanks for any input.
Rhonda
