My plateau is busted!!!
I have written before about how I have been on a four month plateau due to poor eating habits and that I had been to my surgeon and he put me on a strict eating plan. Well. I lost three pounds last week. It is not a lot compared to my first post op days, but I am so happy to be losing again... Just had to share it with you all...
Blessings,
Carolyn
Please, please can you share with us what he told you to eat, because I'm at my whits end. I've been a plateau for a month now and I'm sad all though I was able to make a dent, 31lbs, I feel going on 4 mos I should be at least 40lbs. And I don't want to go another month with losing something, if not my mind. I would be soooo greatful to you!
This is what he told me to eat:
Breakfast: egg and fruit (!/2 grapefruit, apple or orange are the only fruit allowed)
Lunch and Dinner: Dense protein like Chicken, Fish, Pork, Beef or Seafood; Baked or Grilled - Not fried and cooked vegtables (no potatoes or corn) or a salad (no iceberg lettuce). This does NOT allow for bread, potatoes of any kind, pasta or rice.
One or two protein drinks daily: he has put me on Nectar Protein Drinks because they have 23 gms of protein and only 90 calories, 0 fat and 0 carbs.
Snacks if hungry between meals or for an evening snack: Baby carrots, vegetables salad, celery sticks, apples, oranges, hard boiled eggs and sliced deli meats.
This means NO: nuts, popcorn, pretzels, yogurt, candy (even sugar free), really, anything not listed.
It is ESSENTIAL to drink at least 64 oz of water (crystal light counts) daily. You cannot drink with your meals or 30 minutes after your meals - this washes your food through your pouch and makes you feel hungry again very soon.
The main rules I put into a mantra for myself: vitamins in (you must take some good vitamins - he prefers bariatric vitamins), water in (at least 64 oz daily), protein first (you always eat protein first at your meals) and GET MOVING (if you do not do some type of regular exercise, you need to begin a regular exercise program).
I hope this helps.
Blessings,
Carolyn

Thanks a bunch Carolyn...I just got over one a few weeks ago..my weight loss now is due to stress...can't eat...school has me banging my head against the wall, lol!
This will come in handy the next time my weight loss slows to a trickle. I thought my goal weight would be somewhere around 250 (on the bmi chart)..but then my doctor said he could see me going down to 200..even 170 something...not fair!! Here I am, almost at the "goal"..(maybe even there now) that was originally set, and I have to loose more. Did anyone else hear something like that from their dr.?
