Totally Bummed!
I had lap rny 1-27-05 and I have only lost 92 lbs. My starting weight was 283 and I weighed in today at 191. I hear about all these people hitting onederland before thier one year anniversary. I have been stuck since September. I know my reason for the stall is stress related. I live in SW Louisiana and we were hit by hurricane Rita. I didn't realize how much I turned to food for comfort! I mean, I always knew I liked to eat but I never knew it was to this extreme. Before the storm I was focused, exercising, eating right. Now I am eating too many carbs, snacking, and not exercising like I was before. I gained 3 lbs over the Christmas holidays. I am so upset because it has only been a year...where will I be in 5 years? I saw Carnie Wilson on the Tyra Banks show yesterday and she has gained 35 lbs back. Al Roker has gained some of his back. That scares the heck out of me. I know I am PMS..ing but have any of you experienced this? What did you do? I have been trying to get back to basics but can't make it one day without carbs!!! I wish I could make myself dump. People are surprised when I tell them I have never thrown up but I never have. I have dumped a few times but only after consuming really high in sugar.
Help, Denise
Denise, first off, Congratulations on 92lbs lost! That's fantastic!!
It sounds like you've been thru quite alot recently, so try not to be too hard on yourself. I know it hard not to compare ourselves to others, but everyone is different and loses at a different rate. You feel like you've fallen off track, but you can get back on track~focus on protein, water and exercise. You don't have to tackle everything all at once~work on it slowly and things will turn back around. I also saw the Tyra show and it also scares me to see them gaining weight back~although Carnie had the baby so its understandable. The good thing is we will have this tool forever!!!!!! You can overcome this~hang in there hon!

Hi Denise,
Please do not get discouraged sweetie, everybodies body reacts different to the surgery. The wonderful thing is that you have lost 92lbs and hopefully forever. I noticed that you stated you are snacking and not exercising. EVerybody snacks to an extent but you definitely need to incorporate exercise with your tool. I would suggest attempting to go back to the basics as well as adding some form of exercise into your routine and this may jump start your weight loss.
Right now I am dealing with weight game post-op but I am also 3 days away from being 5 months pregnant. I have only gained 12lbs thus far but any weight gain after working so hard to lose it is hard post-op.
Just stay focused and write down some goals for yourself and do what it takes to make them happen.

I too have hit my onederland before my one year anniversary.. My surgeon was disappointed that I didn't loose more.. I too turn to food for comfort, I am a stay home mom so I am alone most of the day while the kids are at school... I have gained a total of 10 pds since Thanksgiving and I have beaten myself up about it but I am trying to turn my food craving around... Everytime I want to snack I go and get on my gazelle which has helped the last few days... I too do not get the dumping or throw up, wish I could at times but it don't happen... If I have something with sugar it just makes me very hot and I get the jitters from it just as if I had had caffine... I want to congratulate you on loosing the 92 lbs that you have, that is great... I have lost 83 and I am giving it my all to loose more... Just hang in there and your weight will slowy start coming off again... Don't loose hope.... Your in my prayers....
