Enjoying Eating

I posted this on the main board, but just wondered if anyone here has experienced this...... I was talking with a group of women today and I mentioned it was my 1 year surgery anniversary today. So, we started talking about dieting, eating, etc and it hit me~for the first time in my life (that I can remember) I truly enjoy eating! I look forward to sitting down and eating a healthy, fulfilling meal. When I was heavy, I never felt that way. Not that I dreaded eating (obviously I got something out of it, LOL), but I didn't "enjoy" eating when I was overweight. It just struck me b/c it was such a weird realization. Anyone else feel this way post~op??? Tracy B 328/164/150

Tracy, I agree! Now that there is a limit (I'm not sure I ever thought there was before) on what I can eat, I take extra care to pick and choose and ENJOY! The cliche we hear a lot is so true now for me - before I lived for food always thinking about my next meal and now food helps me live. My world does not revolve around food. It's a wonderful month for all of us January babies!!! New birth right.

I don't enjoy eating, either. I eat because I have to eat. I still eat way too fast and frequently get upset tummies, although I rarely vomit anymore(thank God!) I guess I spent too many years eating fast at work (teacher). I can eat slow if I have no distractions, but eating with other people or TV and I forget! We have a contest at school for the most weight loss from now until Spring Break in March. I work out two hours every day and lose about 2 lbs. every month. So I guess that is fair. The others are complaining about my "advantage", but I tell them "That was true a year ago, but now the weight loss has slowed and I am no more advantaged than you." (except that when I cheat I pay for it BIG TIME!!!!) LOL!!!! My 1 yr. anniversary is in 5 days. Happy New Me!! Lou Ann

Hi LouAnn! Congratulations and Happy Upcoming Anniversary to you!!!! It's weird how everyone has different feelings on this topic. Maybe that's why it shocked me so much when I realized that I really enjoy eating now, LOL. I know what you mean about sometimes eating too fast~I try so hard to focus on what I'm doing, but sometimes I just forget!
