One Year Ago Today....
One year ago today, I had surgery. The past year has been quite the ride for me. I had a difficult time for nine months after surgery. On two occasions last September, I truly regretted having had this surgery. However, I am now truly happy that I had this surgery.
I am no longer on insulin. I am no longer diabetic. I do not have high blood pressure. I look better and feel better about myself. I no longer take walks with my dog. I now RUN with my dog. I exercise regularly and with a few exceptions over the holidays, I follow a healthy eating plan as recommended by my surgeon. I no longer wear a size 24. I now wear a size 4. The negatives of this surgery...I do not dump on sugar (darn the bad luck!) and it isn't magic. My appetite is back. Am I estatic over my weight loss?...you betcha! Am I thrilled with the way I look and feel?...oh yeah! Would I do this again?..in a heartbeat.
But the one thing that I have gained the most from this surgery are the friends that I have made through OH and the support group that I attend at Mt. Diablo Hospital. You have all helped me more than you will ever know.
Thank you
Dianne
Dianne, Congratulations!! You have come so far this past year. You have worked through the hard times and now you seem happy! I am with you on gaining the friends. For one these January board folks have been awesome!! It feels as if we have all been there for each other. I am also grateful.
Enjoy your 1 year anniversary!!!

Thanks for sharing your story Dianne, you are an inspiration to the rest of us!
I agree with you about how great our little forum is here on the January board.....none of the nastiness and drama of the main board. I mainly lurk on several other forums on OH but this is the only one where I regularly post. Just wish more people would post or that some of the old regulars would visit more often! We need to keep this board active folks!!

Hi Mary Ellen
I never go on the main board so I am not familiar with the drama. I do go on the California board and when there is drama, I just stay off the board until it cools down. I agree with you, this is the most supportive board that I follow. It may have to do with how close we all are in surgery dates and how we are able to understand what each other is going through.
