One Year Later
Everyone has done so well. I too can't believe how quickly this year has gone. I still have a ways to go, but am hopeful that I will get there.
Starting Weight: 334
Current Weight: 207 total weight los 127 lbs.
Best thing: Crossing my legs, having more energy and riding in a plane without an extender. Also making lots of new friends through OH!
My goal is to get to 160 lbs. That is only 47 more lbs. I know I can do it.
Hey Yall! Last year at this time, I didnt even know that I would have my surgery on Jan 18, 05~ I was still waiting for clearance from my Pulmonologist after the sleep study.
Anyways, here are my answers! Gosh what a great thread!!
Starting (and highest) weight: 286
Current Weight: 152
Total weight lost: 134 lbs.
Best thing: Well, well where do I start... I love the fact that I have a renewed sense of self worth, simply because I physically feel so much better, and DRAMATICALLY younger. I havent felt this good since I was 19 years old!! and even now I think that i feel a little better than when I was 19! LOL I love being able to take advantage of all the "cute" clothes, the looks that I get from my hubby now, were in another honeymoon stage, I have so much more energy now, you can imagine it has added MUCHO PASSION to our lives...
Goal: Wow, there are so many things that I can do now that I could not do before... I will have to say though, that I want to go to the amusement parks too and ride the rides. The last time I went, I wasnt able to do that. My husband and I are also ready for another baby, which is possible now thanks to the weight loss.
Only about 14-15 pound to my ultimate goal This new year has brought and even more renewed sense of motivation, if that is possible.

286; 200; 160; 138??
Starting weight: 260lbs
Current weight: 150lbs
Total weight loss: 110lbs
Best thing: health, comfort in clothing, improved sense of self and sex appeal. I have gone from a 22/24 to a 8/10. Feels great to have room in my jeans!
My goal: continue to see my health as a priority and that means taking my vitamins, drinking water and protein shakes and exercising as I should.
Congrats to all of us..
Yes what a difference a year makes in many many ways. Who would have thought that we would be where we are today. You hope, you pray, your scared, some people are supportive and others not so supportive but we did it. We made it through the year with ups and downs hopefully more of the ups than the downs.
Highest weight probably around 320
When I started the process I was 305
Surgery date 271lbs
Today 155lbs about 20 lbs below where my surgeon thought I would be.
My goal is to loose another 10 lbs or so. I am 5'7" and 57 years old so if I don't loose it now it probably won't come off later. Everything slows down and falls down as we get older so the less of me the less to fall.
Best thing about my life since losing the weight is I can get down on the floor with the grandkids and get up without the army having to help. A close second is the bond WLS people have with each other the support is just amazing I never in my wildest dreams thought that kind of support would be there from people I have never met. I can only say thank you from the bottom of my heart you are always there for any of us no matter what we need.
Hi everyone!!! I too can't believe that we will all be celebrating our one year anniversaries soon!!!! In the beginning the days and months seemed to drag by, and here we are so close to our first anniversaries.
Starting weight: 261 pounds
Current weight: 148 pounds
Goal weight: 125-120 pounds
Height: 5 feet
I still have 20 or 25 more pounds to lose. I'm going to try my hardest to reach my goal.
It seems that for a lot of us crossing our legs seems to be one of the great accomplishments. I'm also able to just walk around endlessly without any joint or back pain. And my energy level is non-stop. Prior to surgery all I wanted to do was either sit down or lie down.
I don't know how I ever managed to do anything with all that extra weight I was carrying around. It is also wonderful to be able to sit in a booth without my chin being literally on the table (since I'm short)!
What I am so looking forward to is going to Disneyland next year in the summer, and being able to walk around and hopefully get in some rides.
Congratulations to everyone!!!
You have all done awesome!!!!!
Have a wonderful and blessed 2006!!!!
Love and aloha, Pat
I can't believe where I am one year later!! I hope to reach my goal in a few months!
starting weight: 258.5
current weight: 158.5 total weight lost: 100 lbs.
best thing: Shopping and fitting into meeting chairs with extra room. I have gone from a 22/24 to a size 10 with room.
My goal: To get down to 130 lbs. I also want to run a 5K. Hopefully have a family! I'm getting married in May 2006!!!
Congrats to all!! We all kick @$$!!!!!
You guys have all done so wonderfully..
My starting weight was 240 and currently I weigh 168.
My weight loss wasn't as good as all of yours but I am quite happy with it. I feel great and think I look good. I went from a size 20 to a 10. I would love to be a size 6 but don't know if that will happen. I still would like to lose another 28 pounds and hopefully I'll get that done this year. I've been on a plateau for awhile but have decided to get on the ball and get back in the swing of things. Can't wait for nice weather again so I can get outdoors and walk. Hats off to all of you and hope 2006 brings many more successes...
Okay here goes for me:
Starting weight: 271
current weight: 157 , total loss of 114 so far with 7 more to get to my goal weight. I am already past my Dr.'s goal of 160.
best thing about our life since surgery: I feel like I am living again! I love being able to be involved with my family again. We actually, my husband, son, and myself, went running as a family the day after Christmas. I also love shopping in any store and being able to buy clothes!!
what is your goal: To be happy and healthy. To be as active as I can. I guess I am just about at my goal, Guess I need a new one.
what do you want to do that you couldn't before surgery: Actually now thanks to this surgery I can do anything!!!! I really love crossing my legs, it is great!!!
Life is so different for me now, I feel as if I can do anything I put my mind to. Because of the weightloss I feel like I have my confidence back.
Way to go everyone!! The January board people rock!!!!
