One Year Anniversary in two weeks

My one year anniversary is fast approaching. I feel wonderful. Before surgery I weighed 225lbs. I now weigh 140. I am glad the weight loss has slowed down. I am very happy at this weight. I never had any major problems and only a few foods made throw up. Even today I can no longer eat Chinese food, it just does not agree with me. I have gone from size 16-18 to a size 8. I am still amazed at the weight loss. Being older (48) I do not want to lose much more. I look healthy and most importantly I am healthy. I am no longer on the medication I was on a year ago. This was the best decision I made in 2005! My husband is in awe. He has never known me when I was this small. The only problem I have is I refuse to get rid of all my bigger clothes. I know I will never be that big again, I cannot figure out why I want to hold on to some of them. May be I am using them as a reminder. Is anybody else going through with this?

Congrats to you! I am older too (47) but started with much more to loose than yourself. I am down 150 lbs started at a size 28 in pants, and 30/32 tops. Now I am in a 16 or 18 depending upon the way they are made and 14/16 or 18/20 in tops also depdending upon the way they are made. I had no problems getting ride of all my cloths. I have a few 22/24 tops and a few zise 20 pants left, and will likely dump them shortly to made room for new smaller ones. I do wish I had kept one shirt and pants just to take that funny picture of me in them today, but I was so happy to get rid of them I forgot. I still would like to loose another 30 lbs over the next year my personal goal is 195 lbs as I am 5'10" I know that it would be fine, in fact I look pretty good now at 215 lbs, but it would be nice to be under 200. My ultimate goal, that puts me at normal weight is 175 to 180 but at my age I am not worried about getting to the ultimate only a manageable weight. I am so happy for you that you are at goal!!! You have done such a great job. And I agree with you that it was the best decision I have ever made for myself, just as you have said for yourself. Kiva 369/215/195?

Congratulations on your tremendous success. How exciting and I am so happy for you. I went from a size 26 to a 6. I put an ad in the paper that read free clothes to a plus size woman in need. I had about 20 phone calls. I gave away all my 14-26's to about 5 different women. They were so excitied and grateful. Especially since plus size clothes are very expensive. It was so rewarding to me. I am keeping my clothes up to a size 12 because I want to get pregnant this year. Maybe keep one outfit as a reminder. I kept the pants I took a picture in in my before picture before surgery. That is my reminder I NEVER want to go back to that EVER. I have worked so hard to get where I am. Happy anniversary and sending you huge bear hugs. Or should I say Happy Birthday. Hugs 302/153/155 6"0

Hi Mitzi!! I hope that you and yours had the best of holidays. Saw your post and wanted to say hi and Happy New Year!!!! You have done so awesome with your weight loss. I still have another 20-25 pounds. Hopefully, I can lose it within the next couple of months. That was a wonderful gesture that you made in giving away your clothes. I did something similar, by giving them to my best friend's sister. Her doctor also recommended WLS, but since she is still recovering from breast cancer and is still going for treatments, I think the idea of going through WLS is still too stressful for her to consider at this point. That's a good idea that you have about keeping one large item of clothing to remind you of what it was like before WLS. We'll soon be celebrating our one year anniversary too from WLS. Are you planning anything special for your anniversary? My surgeon was so sweet, and told my husband that he should give me a huge party to celebrate. God Bless and have a wonderful 2006. Love and aloha, Pat 261/148/120-125

Aloha Pat, it is soooo nice to hear from you. Crazy, how quickly the holidays went by. Our anniversary is in exactly one week (7 days). We are so broke from Christmas I am not sure what kind of celebration we will be doing. Originally, I wanted to go to the Grand Wailea Spa. That is where Oprah always goes when she comes to Maui. It is awesome, I have been. But very expensive. Maybe we will just go out to dinner although I know I am not suppose to use food to celebrate. Last year (2005) was my year to get skinny. Mission accomplished. This year (2006) is my year to get out of debt. How was your Christmas? I allowed myself to eat sugar for one week, the week of Christmas. I gained 7 pounds in one week due to also high calorie grazing. I didn't know that was possible to gain so quickly post-op. I went on the plateu buster the day after Christmas and have lost the weight since (luckily) and lost an additional pound too. Did you set New Years Resoultions? I made 9 and posted them on a sheet of paper that hangs on my computer terminal. I have not stuck to them in the past but will try this year. I am usually focused until Feb. then I forget. Well, it was so great to hear from you. Happy WLS Birthday and Happy Annniversary. I am off to Honolulu today to Moanalua Hosp. to do my one year visit with my surgeon. Can't wait to see him and he sees the progress I have made. Take care kiddo, hugs and A hui Ho!!!!!!!!! 302/153/155 6"0
