I'm "Normal"!
Well, at least my BMI is!! Can't believe I finally reached this milestone, but one thing I've come to realize (although with much difficulty) is that the numbers on the scale or the size tags in my clothes or my BMI does not define me.
I've been down on myself because even with all this weight loss and effort, I'm not in the size I'd like to be (still in 14's) and I finally had to let it go and start appreciating the fact that I'm alive and healthy (off all meds since first month postop). It doesn't change the fact that I'd like to get into a size 10, but ya know what? I'm 41 years old, have been obese since childhood and morbidly obese for many, many years, have polycystic ovary syndrome & insulin resistance, and had a preop body fat percentage of over 50%...so my body will probably never be what I want, but it's a hell of alot better than where I started.

Mary Ellen, I know exactly what you mean although I am still not "normal" on the BMI scale and I may never be. I have come to realize that it doesn't matter as long as I feel good about myslef. It is funny that you and I started out only 9 pounds different and our goal weight is the same. Although I think I would like to loose a few more pounds below that. I also agree with you when you say that it is better than where you started!!!! It is so much better now and even though I am not "normal" I feel as if I am for the first time in many many years.
It is a great feeling!!
Okay take care and you will reach your goal in no time!!!!!

We all need to celebrate every milestone whatever they are. For me having a "normal BMI" was a total thrill. I am still hugh in the hip & thigh area and that makes it hard to sometimes see all of the different things that have happened to me this year.
Whatever goal you reach CELEBRATE it! We all are so much better off now than before.
Congrats on the BMI. Now set another goal. I have made mine at 10 lb intervals. My next goal is anything in the 120's.
HUGS
And Congrats
Mary
