OMG!!!!
Becky,
Congratulations, that is a great milestone.
BUT, I hate to be a party-pooper, but it really gets to me when I hear complaints about jeans/pants being too long.
They can be taken up!!
I have the exact opposite problem, throughout my life, I have struggled to get anything that is LONG enough for me, I would gladly let them down - but it can't be done- if there were a modification/alteration that I could make to get things to be long enough, I would be so happy!
So, the thing is that they can fit you (through alteration) but not me.
I too am in size 12/14 in jeans, and recently I went to our local shopping centre where there are at least 15 ladies clothing stores with 8-10 of them carrying jeans. I found several that I liked, but only one store had a pair the were long enough, I didn't particularly like them, but I didn't really have much choice, so I bought them. If I were shorter, I could have bought any of the other 6 or 7 pairs that I actually liked, and I could have had them taken up to fit me perfectly.
I know that this makes no difference to your frustration, I just thought I would let you know that being tall (5' 8" - not a giant by any means- but long legged) can be just as big a problem,
There are always two sides to a problem!
Hugs
Anne
I can understand your struggles with finding stuff long enough, my sister is 5'10" so she has always struggled with that. However, I have found that now I am in the smaller sizes tailoring the pants to make them shorter just doesn't work because it changes how the pants look entirely, unless you wear straight leg everything. I am too tall for petities and too short for regular lengths. And my body looks best in flare or bootcut pants so I am always stuck in the middle when it comes to length. So now I just resort myself to high heals....LOL! Hehehehe...

Anne, Thanks for your reply! I can understand your frustration because my friend, that had WLS & who gives me all her clothes, is 5'9". I am 5"4'. I can't take pants from her because they are all to long. I can't take them up because I give the clothes back to her when I can't wear them anymore. She gives them to others then.
Even if I buy the jeans it doesn't mean that I can take them up, well first of all you need to know how to sew(I don't so well, ha ha) and then most of the pants today if you shorten them then they don't look right. So I just keep searching until I find some that fit. Also on another one of my shopping days my friend, the one who is 5'9", got jeans that fit her and she had no problems finding them long enough. She got hers at Old Navy and also at the Gap. Maybe that can help you in your ventures to get pants/jeans that are long enough.
We all have issues and those of us that are short want to be taller and those that are taller want to be shorter but we just have to be the way we are.
Okay don't forget to look at the stores I told you and hopefully you will find something long enough for you. By the way Old Navy usually has a huge Clearance section!!
Thanks,
Becky P.
YEAH BECKYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
