I am an insurance agent and sell health insurance. For what you are getting....it is a bargain. Just think about how much you would have to pay if you had to pay for your surgery yourself. Once you are done with GBS - say a year or so, you can try and find a cheaper policy. Good luck. Linda

I would say, if it covers ALL the costs of your gastric by-pass surgery (labs, surgeon, hospital, anesthesia, etc), even with a modest deductable the cost sounds pretty good to me! Figure you'll pay $2,400/yr in premiums + $100 starting fee. That's only $2,500. The total cost of my lap RNY (surgeon, anesthesia, hospital, radiology, etc.) was about $25,000. Fortunately, my insurance covered all but about $3,000. So, in my opinon, even if you had to pay $3,000 in deductable + $2,500 in premiums, you've still spent less than $6,000 which might sound high to you, but is a lot less than $25,000! One word of caution - be sure the surgeon, anesthesiologist and hospital you plan to use are in your insurance coverage "network". If they are "out of network" providers, your out of pocket expenses will be much greater. Good luck! Vickie J.
