Arms and arms and more arms
I feel the same way. We have a local support group here that I attend and the woman in charge has had "everything" reconstructed and some things twice. I consider her an expert in plastic surgery and she advises everyone to think about the arm surgery because "most" people end up with really bad scars, probably having to do with the fact that it is hard to limit use after surgery. You may get rid of the excess skin, but end up with really bad scars.
Just to let you know. Good luck.

262/197/160? (I am just so happy to be under 200, who cares!)
I don't know of any way to get rid of the bat wings without surgery or just lumping it and putting up with the tenative flight plan
Here's my take on scars, however... I figure when I'm all said and done I will have a US road map that would navigate coast-to-coast. I had gallbladder removal in 1979, when they cut you diagonally from stem-to-stern, and then had a panniculectomy in 1998 with a goodly scar from hip-to-hip, sans my belly button. The nice thing about the arm scars, is that they are on the underside. I've seen some nice work done with the arms -- yes, it is a huge scar, especially if they go down your sides to get rid of the leftover boob skin that flaps around under your arms, but my preferance would be to have the scars and have a few people notice them, then keep what I have now and flap in the wind and be too selfconcious to wear short sleeves and/or no sleeves. I'd love to consult with that PS in Philli or Pittsburg (can't remember which one -- but do recall it was a "P" city) who does the total body lift and takes care of nearly everything in one surgery, except the arms. At the rate I need reconstructing, I'd have to have 5 separate surgeries here in my area and I'm not looking forward to anesthesia 5 times - ugh!
Sorry, it's a book... 2 cups of coffee and finishing up all the wedding plans for our daughter -- wedding on the 15th, I find myself overly chatty today

Wendy,
Love your analogy of being a human roadmap!! LOL
Dr. Dennis Hurwitz is the PS in Pittsburgh who does the total body lift. I live 80 miles south of Pittsburgh and will definitely consult with him once I finally save up the money to have some plastics. My insurance company put an exclusion in their policy for WLS that lets them off the hook to cover any plastics after the WLS (even if it's for medical reasons) so I gotta live with all this skin until I get the money saved or win the lottery!

Girl you are preaching to the choir here... I am desperate for PS but in areas most don't think of... yes I have bat wings but not half as bad as most other WLS folks. My extra skin in my back, rib cage area, abdomin, and thighs are what really bother me. If I bend over on all fours naked I look like a lactating mommy dog! No joke here ladies... saggy, hanging, empty flesh bags (formerly known as breasts), and my above and below bellies hanging out with a divide down the middle from my open RNY, it looks like I have 6 hanging doggie tits! LOL! It is so freaking hilarious and depressing all at once! And my thighs... well I have fleshy thigh high socks, that's what I have. Do you know how impossible it is to find a pair of pants in a 4 or a 6 that has lots of extra room in the thighs? UGH! I know I should be happy about being in this size range but it is harder to find clothes now than it was when I was a big beast! LOL!
Brightest Blessings for a Wonderful Day~

My arms are so bad I am thinking about loaning them out to the airlines for extra wing span! They are HUGH and HANGING! They are going to need there own hanger pretty soon!
The only thing I know for sure is when I lose another 50 lbs I do not care about having a tummy tuck or anything else but my arms will be fixed! I dont care if the insurance covers it or not.
Good bye arm flaps forever!
