NOT THE SIZE I THINK I SHOULD BE!!!!
OK I had my surgery on January 17 2005. I started out at 256 pounds. Over the last eight month I have lost 98 pounds and am in a size 14 jeans. I have been at a stand still for about 3 weeks very sad about that can't make the century club. I just see that other people are at a size 8,6,4 and I still were a size 14 (do not get me wrong I am happy to go from size 26 to a 14) You know I just think I am doing something wrong. HELP!!!!! And I would like to say thank you for all of your post. I read them every other day and it makes me feel that I am not going thru things by my self THANK YOU
Hi Heather! You are doing just great!!! Congratulations on losing 98 pounds!!!
I had surgery a week before you and have lost 91 pounds so far. I started at 261 pounds and am currently 170 pounds. I still have a ways to go to reach my goal of 115 pounds. But I'm not complaining.
May I ask you how tall you are? I too am wearing a size 14 and used to wear a 24-26 prior to surgery. I am 5 feet tall. May I ask what your goal is?
Keep up the good work and don't worry. Have a wonderful weekend.
Aloha, Pat

I understand how you feel. I am still in a 22. Unlike many I still can not shop at "normal" stores. But we all lose the weight differently and at one point I think it will just change, and your size will catch up with your weight lose. And hey I talked to my doctors office the other and they said do not worry about a plateua until it gets to 6 weeks or so. So chin up, it will be ok.

Hi Heather,
This is tooooooo weird:
I had my surger one day after you and my starting weight was exactly the same as you, 256lbs. Today I got on the scale to find that I had lost 2lbs overnight and I am now 98lbs slimmer. Guess we are moving at the same pace, this is really weird so I guess we are perfectly normal. I know what you feel as I have felt that my weight loss was slower than it should be but thank God that I've been able to get down as far as I have since I could never loose weight before.
Oh, how tall are you? I'm 5'4".
God bless,
take care,
Syndi
Heather,
First off, I think your weight loss is great! As far as sizes go, everyone's body is balanced differently, so another person weighing 158 pounds might be a smaller size or even a larger size than what you are. Personally, I carry most of my weight around my waist and hips, so my size of clothing is larger than a lot of others who weigh the same as I do and are around my same height. This has also been a frustration for me, seeing people that weigh more than me or the same as me be 2 sizes smaller. I weigh 185 pounds and usually fit into 18s and some 16s overall with average cuts of clothing. I am hoping to be around around a solid size 14 if I reach 158 pounds, and I am 5' 5-1/2" tall. (My doctor's goal weight is in the 160s, but mine is more like 150).
It seems that most women who have had children and/or who are older carry their weight more in the middle. This area has been stretched out and a lot of times cannot be toned at all or as easily as those who have not had children. This effects sizes for both tops, pants, dresses and skirts. Some people carry more weight on their legs and are able to fit into smaller sizes because their waist and hips are not as large or their breasts are huge, but their waist is smaller. Most clothing allows for larger breasts and/or larger legs, but not for larger waists and/or hips.
I am not sure how tall you are, but if your legs are shorter, then maybe more of your weight is distributed in the other areas of your body that contribute to a larger size of clothing?
Some people are younger and/or more toned, so can be in slightly smaller sizes, but still weigh the same. I bet most of the others that are your same weight and a smaller size may not have started at as large of a size that you started as? You have already come down several clothing sizes, and I think you have accomplished a tremendous amount in short period of time. And, you are not done yet!
