A Really CRAZY Question
Ok, so here it goes...
I'm not anywhere near thinking of planning plastic surgery, nor am I anywhere NEAR wanting to have a child/children. But, this is making me have a few concerns.
When I get close to goal, I definitely want to get a full body lift, if necessary, definitely a tummy tuck and arm lift. However, I want to have kids within the next ten years, if possible, and well, what should I do first? I'm losing the weight, feeling better, but should I have a kid BEFORE plastics or have plastics then a kid?
I know this is long term, and I have plenty of time to think of it, but my main concern is, when a woman gains pregnancy weight, would that affect a tummy tuck?
hmm
anyone ever think about this?

At one time I lost a lot of weight on the Atkins diet and had a tummy tuck done in 2002, I had already had 2 children and thought that was going to be it. Alas, I got pregnant again! Gained all the weight back and then some. Since I have been losing weight from my surgery my stomach is definitely going to need another tummy tuck. My stomach is not as bad as before after my first two kids, but it is definitely streched out and will not go back. If I had to do it all over again, I would have had the baby first and then the tummy tuck [and my tubes tied] cause I feel like I wasted my money. One nice thing about a tummy tuck is they tighten the stomach muscles up real tight, which once you experience it you never want it to go away!
But having children is the fastest way to stretch or tear the stomach muscle. In my opinion, it's better to have the children first!
My opinion is to wait until after you have children to get the tummy tuck.
I used to be the assistant for an ENT plastic surgeon. He said that with most of the procedures he did (face lifts mainly), they would have to be redone again 10 to 20 years later. I don't know if that applies to the tummy area that is stretched with pregnancy. But, you may want to have a consult with a plastic surgeon to help you decide. Even if you are not intending on having the plastic surgery for awhile, the consult would still be helpful for your family planning and future planning. I was pretty thin (120 pounds) with my first pregnancy and got back down to that weight afterward, but still had stretch marks and a stretched stomach. Apparently, where there are stretch marks, the skin cannot get tightened, even with exercise. The skin is permanently stretched in those areas. Not everyone gets massive stretch marks with pregnancy, but I did and I only gained 26 pounds with my first pregnancy.
