Help guys!
Okay guys,
I need your help on this one. I have been on a plateau for a long time now.
I am asking for suggestions on items to bring to work to eat. Like breakfast, lunch and snack items. Or help on whether I should have snacks. I think I am eating the wrong kinds of foods, what does everyone else eat on a normal basis. I find I don't really like to cook anymore but I know overall it's better for me to make food for myself and my family so I welcome recipes.
Elena, I can only tell you what I eat everyday. Don't know if it will hel*****t. First you have to follow your doctors orders and your dietitians.
My day consists of:
B: 6:30 am Atkins protein bar
Snack: 9:00am Champion Pure Whey shake
L: 12:00 pm 1/2 egg salad sandwich or something similar
Snack 3 pm another Champion Pure whey shake
Dinner 6 pm A grilled burger(no bun) or grilled ham and 7 brussel sprouts or some green beans
8 pm yogurt OR cheese OR maybe some nuts
I drink 80 to 100 ozs water everyday.
My dietitian says everything looks good. But everyone is different.
I excercise some, not alot (we just won't tell anyone that) LOL

Hi Elena,
I was told to eat my protein first and to not waste the little room I have on carbs. I usually try to follow this rule along with the three bites of protein to one bite of veggie rule. I never drink and eat at the same time. If I find that I need a snack I usually make it peanuts or a protein drink and sometimes low carb yogurt. I've found that whenever I eat too many carbs, my weight loss slows and if I continue to eat carbs everday then my weight loss plateaus. I try to keep my sodium intake to a minium.
Hope this helps some.
Take care
Blessings

Hi Elena! I guess the easiest way to explain the foods that I eat would be to list what I ate today.
Breakfast - Protein shake = 35 grams of protein
Lunch - 3 oz. grilled chicken, small handful of baby greens with
balsamic vinegar/dijon mustard dressing.
Dinner - Will probably have the same thing
About 2 hours after dinner, I will drink my second protein shake for another 35 grams of protein.
My surgeon does not want his patients to have any snacks.
I also drink between 120-135 oz. of water, crystal light, diet snapple.
Hope this helps! I always will have 3 oz. of a protein (fish, shrimp, scallops, or chicken). I do not eat red meat or any processed meats.
Also, I use sweet-n-low or equal to sweeten my food. I use extra virgin olive oil to make my dressings. I also do not eat any starch (bread, rice, pasta, rolls, etc.) I was 261 on the day of my surgery, January 10, 2005
and so far have lost 82 pounds, I have approx. 57-59 pounds more to lose
by my one year anniversary, January 10, 2006. My doctor also told me no
fruits except for watermelon or blueberries. The other fruits have too much natural sugar. I also stay away from any vegetables that may contain starch, potatoes, pumpkin, corn, etc.
Actually, the foods that I do prepare for myself are for my consumption, and fortunately my husband only eats dinner at home a couple of times a week because of his job. Also, my children are grown and do not live with us. I know that if you have to cook for your husband and children that might be a little difficult.
I have many dishes that I have adapted to my needs and would be glad to share them with you if you like. Just e-mail me and let me know.
They are all prepared with chicken or seafood and are very fast to prepare. I'm actually attempting to put a recipe book together for WLS patients.
Aloha, Pat
