Exercise chat...
Okay, I'd be interested to know what type of exercise you do, intensity, lenghth of time, how many days per week, etc... Anyone working on toning yet? Building muscle with weights?
So, lay it on me, baby -- what are you doing for exercise and I want all the "dirty" little details - LOL

I wish I could exercise more but am very limited due to other health problems. I walk one mile every morning and just bought a Gazelle (at Walmart for $96.00). I get on it several times a day for 5 minutes and hope to work up to 10-15 minutes at a time. It is really a great machine!!! I wish I would have bought it months ago!

Hi Wendy
I hit the gym 3x week. I do treadmill, averaging 4.8 mph for 30 minutes and then 45 minutes circuit training. I also lift freeweights for 15-20 minutes. Twice a week, and usually more often, I go swimming. We have a neighborhood pool. I do 16 laps alternating freestyle and backstroke. Then I do breast and side strokes...but with a rest in between each 2 laps. More like I am playing at it or chilling out rather than actual exercise.

What I am suppose to do is 3 days of cardio and 3 days of strength training.
Now what I do is 2 days cardio and 2 days strength training on a good week. I am not totally into it yet. This is something I am working on.
Monday & Wednesday is weighted work-out class at the YMCA. Monday was my second time and it was a killer and yes I am going back for more today. I have muscles I haven't used in years. And the floor work, on your back, with legs in the air.......oh I am sure that was not a pretty sight. Oh...and trying to balance myself on those big balls and lift weights, and do the manuvers all at one time.....well enough said.
Yesterday I walked for 45 minutes in the hot sun. I think it was a little too hot but I got it done.
When I first started exercising, I did water aerobics. It was fun but I needed to step-up the level of workout. The Y has other classes like step and spinning that I would like to try. Since I feel like exercising and not hurting all over....I am excited about trying new stuff.
My PCP suggested the gazzelle. She said it works every muscle in your body. We have treadmill but all it does is collect dust. I like getting out with other people. The only thing about exercising is the scales have slowed down...but I am still losing inches.
So there is the skinny on my exercise routine. I just need to be consistant.

OK, mine might seem crazy but this is what I do:
7 days a week: Spend at least 20 minutes stretching.
M-W-F: Heavy Cardio Days
I start out with some kind of warm up for 10 minutes before I do 30 - 45 minutes of cardio (treadmill, elliptical, or some other cardio machine) keeping my heart rate at the target rate for cardio conditioning. 80% I am doing this whole "build up" program where I use incline or resistance to build up to 45 minutes and then I back down the time to 30 minutes and increase the incline or resistance. (Clear as mud, right?) Afterwards I stretch out again and then I head to the heavy bag and mats and I spent probably an hour and a half of TKD- hitting the heavy bag (kicks & punches) with my TKD moves, work on putting together move combinations and doing them over and over, practicing my self defense patterns and my sparring patterns, then practicing my discipline "patterns" three times each. (I know this all sounds like gibberish to you, basically martials arts stuff for an hour to 1 1/2 hrs.!) I also walk/run a mile at night with hubby! I also do my "core training" -abs and back workout.
T-Th-Sat: Weight Training Days
These days I start with 30 - 45 minutes of minutes of cardio (following the settings from the day before) then I hit the weights for an hour. On the machines I am doing really light weights with high reps (3 sets of 20) I do entire body on these days. I also do my "core training" -abs and back workout. Then at night I go to TKD class for an hour!
Sundays are my total day off!
Brightest Blessings for a Wonderful Day~

3-4 days per week I go to the gym and do 45 minutes of cardio (usually treadmill at 4.0 or a mix of elliptical & exercise bike) and 200 ab crunches. On two of those days at the gym I add 20-25 minutes of circuit training. I also go to a 1 hour water aerobics class 2 evenings a week but only have two weeks of class left as it's held at an outdoor public pool. Next month I'm going to replace the water aerobics class with a Latin music aerobics class and maybe pilates or kickboxing (depends on what is available).
