anyone experiencing this?
I have, for the past week and half, been eating eating eating... I'm afraid of it, and myself, too...
Since my gallbladder surgery, I've been tolerating and eating more than my "old" 1-2oz of anything. Now I'm up to 1/2c...
I feel that "I gotta snack" all the time... maybe it's just stress (I'm a major emotional eater/preop) and how do I fight this?
Is anyone experiencing anything like this? Or is it just me??
Please
Beth
Beth,
I have been the same at times. My doctor said not to worry. As long as I am eating good stuff and not candy bars or potato chips in vast amounts, my body needs more food because I am burning more fuel at a faster rate thanks to surgery. Much of it isn't even absorbed!
His suggestion was that if I feel "guilty" for eating, then I should try drinking more water or protein first, to fill me up. If I am still hungry, then I should eat denser food to make me feel full longer. More meat or chicken.
Unfortunately, I can't tolerate either, yet. So I nibble all day. Also, if you are exercising, you are burning more.
Hope this helps. If not, ask your doc for help.
I'm very similar to Kate, actually, Beth... except my gorging day is the day before TOM... I was curious about this same thing, so I kinda started watching my "normal weight" friends and they eat different amounts on different days -- don't be afraid of normal, they tell me... So, I just chalk it up to normalcy, which is so foreign to me... but I think I'll get the hang of it

Beth- I eat a bit more than half a cup at this point, I am about 2/3 of a cup depending on how dense the food is. So I have to force myself to measure and force myself not to snack. I think that has been a part of my problem in this plataeu... since I exercise so much I get hungry faster and I find it very difficult not to just go and grab and apple with PB. My doc says no snacking, my nutritionist says two snacks... what do you do?!
Brightest Blessings for a Wonderful Day~

I noticed this past week that I felt like I couldn't get enough to eat, then I started my period. So I guess there is some relationship there. I also notice that when I am bored I look to eat. Some days I forget to eat. It is strange. I think I personally do best when I plan my meals then when I get the munchies I know that I have a planned snack or meal.
It's tough cuz we used to use food as our crutch, and now we actually have to deal with our emothions....hmmm???
I've been feeling the exact same way lately! I feel like I can eat all day. However, I have managed to keep it to my 3 meals and I make sure that I make really good choices here so I don't screw up royally. Protein and vegetables then fruit as a treat. Sugar free jello and sugar free gum have become my best friends lately because they at least make me feel like I've partyly satiated my cravings between meals. Plus, I can't get enough crystal light. It makes me feel like I'm having something sweet and keeps me away from the fridge. I hope I get out of this phase soon!
