I had my six month visit yesterday. I am down 84 lbs!!! I am so happy and grateful that I was lucky enough to have this surgery and not have any complications. I would do it again in a heartbeat!!! My only concern is hair loss. It seems to be getting worse. I have increased my protein, started taking biotin but it is not helping. I've done Nioxin and when it started getting worse it didn't help at all. My surgeon assured me it will be ending soon. I trust his professional opinion, but as most of you know when you are pulling out handfuls of hair, soon is not quick enough!! Jennifer 264/180/140

Jennifer -- trust your surgeon A friend had her WLS 3.5 years ago, and she really got thin on top and wore a wig a few times because of it... but today, she has beautiful hair - lots of it and very healthy. I don't recall when hers stopped falling out, but I think it was around 6-8 months. Mine is thinning, no doubt, but not by the handfulls. I'm one who is challenged daily to get in my protein; however, I've used the Nioxin regimen (shampoo, conditioner, treatment) since day one, every other day, and have attributed this to my lack of loss.... but who knows, as I've heard others share their stories similar to yours. Best of luck, and it will stop soon ((((skinny hugs)))) wendyb

Thanks Wendy! I am one of the lucky ones who had extremely thick hair to begin with............just another thing to be thankful for!! It just starts to get scary at a point. My surgeon says that it is hormonal and will end soon!! Jennifer 264/180/140

Hi Jennifer! Congratulations on your awesome weight loss journey!! I know it seems really scary when you see all this hair just dropping, but there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Mine started maybe about at 2-3 months post op and I was taking Biotin and also started using the Nioxin hair treatment. Just like you I was born with a head of hair so it hasn't been as traumatic as if I had very thin hair to begin with. My hairdresser assures me that I have lots left! Just to let you know, I started to notice that between my 5-6 months post op period the hair loss has drastically stopped. Don't worry it will come to an end. Hope this helps. Take care and have a wonderful weekend! Aloha, Pat 261/185/goal 115-120 (I'm only 5 feet tall)

Congratulations on the weight loss! I have my 6-month check-up on Monday. I can't wait! And I would do it again in a heartbeat! I have started using Biologe shampoo and hair treatment conditioner for color treated hair. In addition to the weight loss, my hair texture is like a straw broom. The shampoo and conditioner has helped some. My hair never came by the hands-ful and like the other ladies my hair is thick so I could use some thinning. I have noticed it has slowed down. My thinning is on the sides - back still thick as ever. But I still color my hair. I had concerns at first but my hairdresser assured me she wouldn't let me go bald. I think it will start slowing down. Be patient

My hairloss has slowed quite a bit but it has not started gwoing back in yet. It is still very thin and not very dense so I am still very much aware of it all. I take biotin daily, use Nioxin shampoo/conditioner/hair treatment. I also keep up my protein levels and watch my stress. I try not to use an heat treatments on my hair for now and I am avoiding chemical treatments until I am one year out. HTH!
