Mad as heck...

You know what... I am just fed up with all the dang cutbacks our infinatly wise master we call a president is allowing to go on! Everyday I watch more and more of our military benefits widdled away because of funding problems... gggrrrrr.... We have 10 pools on post (only 1 indoor) this year they have closed all but two of the smallest outdoor pools and even those pools have CRAPPY hours! Today I go to the gym and I am forced to leave because the guy from the only gym that offers daycare (they are full up and have no more openings for the summer) is there and says I have to go to that one b/c my son is with me... mind you I am at the smallest most remote gym on the base that has all of 2 regular people attending it after 1pm everyday. Like my seven year old kid reading in the corner or practicing his TaeKwonDo in the gym is such a nucence to anyone at the gym! I have been a regular patron of this gym for a year now and as long as my son stays off the equipment they don't care that he is there, they love chatting with him... but this moron who only wants money (his gym is a pay gym with daycare that I cannot afford to attend when I am paying off a $100 pool membership to a pool that they CLOSED WHILE I WAS IN MICHIGAN!!!!) GRRRRRRRR..... what the heck am I supposed to do for exercise now? The heat index is so high that when I tried to go running today, an MP told me that PT was not allowed outside today b/c f the heat index, and I would have to go to a gym. WTF! AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH....... Sorry for shooting of steam but I am so dang mad... they have closed all of the summer programs for the kids except for one (which is full), they cut all the educational benefits for spouses years ago, they closed all but two of the pools, there are very little sitting services, healthcare stinks, they are cutting our bariatric program, we no longer have trainers/coaches/or health techs, sport programs are being cut left and right, they want to take away our kid's schools... what next? They have already privatized base housing and now there is rumors that they will get rid of housing all together.... WTF?!?!?!!? My husband has put in over 13 years and barely takes home $25k a year putting his life on the line on a daily basis, I gave up my own military career for his, we never see each other, and this is the thanks we get?! gggrrrrrr.... I laugh at these young girls trying to bag a soldier thinking the benefits are all that.... PLEASE?!?!!? We get practically nothing these days! jaimie, I understand completely! My hubby just retired 35 years National Guard. WHERE are those GREAT benefits we waited for??? I guess we are still waiting? It never seems to amaze me, either. Rhonda

Jaime, we had "dubya" or "shrub" as we call him in Texas as Govenor. Our public schools will never recover from the damage done. I know how bad it is for you guys in the military. But rest assured, although fewer that 50% support the war, 100% support our troops. They are magnificent. Here in the valley we are gearing up for the 4th of July parade. My choir kids are riding on a red, white, and blue float with an american eagle. The boom box will be playing "America, the Beautiful", sung by the choir, and five vets from different branches of the service will ride along. We will brave the 107 degree heat with them. That would definitly cheer me up! Thanks for supporting the troops girl! So what did the shrub do to your schools? I am curious. Especially since his appointed "experts" deemed that Fort Campbell no longer needs to provide base education for k - 12 and that Christian County could handle taking over our kid's education (need I tell you that CC has the LOWEST test scores, lowest national averages, and spends the LEAST amount of $ on a per student basis). Right now FTCKY has some of the highest scores in the nationa, the highest graduation to college rate, and spend on average $5/student more than most of the schools in the nation? Yeah, our kids get a GREAT education right now.... and they get services that the civilian schools don't offer, like plenty of conselors, terapists and stuff AND they get "military education" at the lowers levels (like talking about the dangers of impact areas, operational security, how to cope with deployments, etc....) Yeah both the surrounding counties are already over crowded and under funded, where are they gonna stick a couple of thousand kids?! This is SOOOOO STUPID! Jamie
