Beth, I can't eat them anymore, either. BUT, I found that I could eat a watermelon pospicle S-L-O-W-L-Y. So that's what I will be eating on the 4th of July! BTW, Our Hidalgo children's choir will be riding on a float in the MCAllen Parade and I will be riding, too! We have decorated it with red, white, and blue bunting and the kids will be wearing their red choir polo shirts and jeans, and waving flags. Several vets will also be riding with us. We hope we win the float for most patriotic! Our boom box on the float will be playing the choir singing "America the Beautiful". BTW, You can make homemade popsicles. Drop cold watermelon (unseeded) into food processor. Strain. Pour juice into popsicle trays and add sticks. Or, you can make a grea****ermelon Smoothie protein drink by adding Any whey protein and a little plain yogurt to the watermelon juice. What I will miss about the 4th is my husband's fabulous Fajitas. I still can't eat the meat; too tough. Also, tortillas are too tough. Oh, well,.....I will eat cottage cheese and peaches and pretend! LOL!!

sorry to hear that happened to you. i've tried a few fruits, in small quantities. half a pear, an apple, some strawberries...and haven't had any problems with them. but i haven't tried any watermelon...sure sounds good, but i haven't had any dumping episodes and, since i want to keep it that way, perhaps i'll stay away from watermelon! deb -124

Beth, I have tried watermelon and I was fine. I only had a few bites because I was affraid that I would get sick. I have also had grapes and they were fine as well. I haven't tried any other fruit though. I haven't been sick or dumped at all since surgery so I am very careful. Although I know I need to try more so I am trying to. Have a great day!! Becky P.

Oh Beth... I am so sorry that you dumped on watermelon. For me I have been lucky and been cursed. I don't dump on natural sugars so easily. I can eat 2-3 small slices of water melon (1 cup or so) without dumping. However I do buy the seedless variety and for some strange reason, it makes a difference. I can eat grapes, 1/4 large apple (with Peanut Butter), 1/2 pear, 1/2 plum (skin makes me sick though), 1/4 cup strawberries cut up, 1/4 c blueberries, or 1/4 c raspberries. I have not tried much else yet. Kinda off topic but at least I can make low carb, high protein pancakes with fresh fruit now. I make them up using low carb boxed mixed (Krutztec (? they make bread machine mixes...sold at the grocery store), Ketogenics, or Atkins). I add a scoop of Any Whey, and then I make small pancakes and drop fesh fruit onto the pancake before I flip it.... yummy!!! One pancake gives me enough protein and then I eat some bacon and I am good for several hours...YUM! Maybe you can do fruit in really small doses like in a pancake or hot cereal or something? I find that if I am eating fruit with a protein source (like the apples or bananas with PB) that I can tolerate them a lot more without dumping. HTH!
