eat or not to eat
What does your doctor say? Go with that. I eat different things each day, but it kinda went like this yesterday:
Morning-Protein drink
Lunch- chicken salad on 4 Ritz crackers, and tomato slices with ginger soy sauce.
afternoon snack-1 piece string cheese and small bag peanuts
Dinner- 3 oz. poached salmon with creamy dill sauce, steamed asparagus
Night snack- popcorn, protein drink
Hope this helps.

Hi Emma! I am also not a doctor, but these are my instructions from my surgeon who is very specific. I had lap rny on January 10, 2005.
This is a typical day for me. He told me no starches such as potato, rice, pasta, bread, even some vegetables have a lot of natural sugar and starch such as carrots, squash, pumpkin. I also can't have fruits like apples, oranges, strawberries because of the high sugar content. He said tha****ermelon and fresh blueberries are very good. I have three meals per day and no snacks.
Breakfast - protein shake
Lunch - 3-4 oz. chicken or fish (sometimes shrimp or scallops) 1 oz. of
baby greens with a dressing that I make out of balsamic vinegar, and extra virgin olive oil. Sometimes, I just squeeze lemon juice over the greens.
Dinner - 3-4 oz. chicken or fish (sometimes shrimp or scallops) 1-2 oz.
of either greens or a cooked vegetable (green beans, eggplant, zucchini,
etc.
I also drink 2 protein shakes twice a day for a total of 70 grams of protein.
It is also very important that you drink a lot of water. I drink between
130-140 oz. of water which my doctor told me was fine.
I also exercise 5- days a week for 50-60 min. Sometimes, I will also break this up into 2 sessions since I have been having problems with my
Achilles tendon.
Hope this helps! Sorry, if I sounded like I was lecturing. Didn't mean to sound that way. I also realize that every doctor is different.
Feel free to e-mail me if you want.
Take care and Congratulations on your progress!
Aloha, Pat
