I feel like I should be eating a more variety of foods but can't seem to bring myself to venture out. The couple of times I have, I have got sick. What is everyone else eating? What are some choices when you go out to eat?

HI Janet, My favorite foods out are: ----Chicken Caesar Salad ----Chili with cheese ----Grilled shrimp ----Meatloaf with gravy Breads still don't sit well so I don't eat them. Hope this helps some Take care, Syndi PS You should tell your Dr if your still getting sick a lot.

Thanks! Is the meatloaf made with beef or turkey? I haven't tried beef yet....I don't like so I think I avoid too much. Lettuce or cabbage does not sit well with me. But I do like grilled shrimp. Breads do not sit well with me either unless they are very much toasted. I do well with chicken, fish, vegetables, fruits, and salad spreads. It is not that I am getting sick a lot but if I try something new and get sick then I steer away from it. Which I know I should try it again. Thanks!

The meatloaf is usually beef. I don't have a problem with beef as long as it has some for of gravy/sauce on it. I do try to eat slowly and take tiny bites. I did have a problem with vomiting until I had surgery again. Take care, Syndi

greetings janet i'm like you...i think i should be eating more of a variety, but i seem to foam and/or puke when i try new things, so i'm pretty much locked into the same foods. cheeses, canned chicken, tuna, occasional salad, occasional veggie/fruit. generally, i don't eat out much, but if i do find myself going out, i have some kind of salad. deb -112

I make a hamburger soup. 1 lb hamburger 1 onion 2 cans light red kidney beans 1/2 chopped cabbage 2-3 cans of diced or stewed tomatoes 2-3 cans of beef broth Cook hamburger and chopped onion until done. (Crumble in small pieces as you cook it.) Add the tomatoes with juice, cabbage and drained kidney beans. Add broth (or can use bouillion) as needed for juice. Season with salt, pepper, and any other seasoning you like. It really makes a thick hearty soup. Karen

I wish I ate more fruits and vegis. I just do not seem to have room for them. After I get in the protien thats it. So I eat: Chicken Cheese Turkey beef (not ground) and lots of vegi burger stuff, that seems to be the easiest for me to get down, like boca burgers, I eat the boca chili allot, it has a ton of protien. I actually eat tons of things, it almost seems like I am not restricted at all! I AVOID deep fried or pan fried anything, really high fat or high sugar foods, and I do VERY little pasta or breads. Going out to eat is easy for me.... Ruby Tuesday's (I stick to the Atkins side of the menu) Olive Garden (Pasta e Fagoli soup, most of the chicken dishes and the shrimp are all good) AppleBees (stick to the Weigh****chers side of the menu) Hooters (I do the wings and a side salad) O'Charley's (I do the "Healthy Heart" menu there) Red Lobster (I just get a shrimp coctail and I am full! --the jumbo one) Subway (I get the meatballs and cheese served in a cup, the chicken salads are good too!) Taco Bell (nachos, pintos and cheese, pretty much anything although I prefer real mexican resturaunts instead) Wendy's (chili, jr cheeseburger wrapped in lettace instead of a bun) IHOP (they honor WLS cards, so you can get kids or seniors portions of anything... i like the omlets) Cracker Barrel (low carb menu--- the lemon pepper trout ROCKS) Japanese Steak Houses (usually get the shrimp or rice free sushi--- my place makes it special for me wrapping the sushi in seaweed or mango strips) and that is just some of the places where I have eaten! LOL! I try and stick to fish, seafood, chicken or turkey. At home I have tried pork and if it is cooked well I can eat it but most pork and most red meat is too dense for me and I get sick from it. I do protein first but what I do is 4 bites of protein to 1 bite of fruit or veggie... I hate eating just my potein and never getting anything else, it is not fair to me or my body. You need veggies so I just make up the protein later with a shake or replacement bar if I really have to. HTH!
