Surgery Update

Well, I went to the plastic surgeon this time instead of back to my regular surgeon, so maybe I wouldn't look so butchered this time, and he said since I am not in a lot of pain that if we can wait 8 weeks, then he can do a tummy tuck at the same time. The worry I have is, that I have lost 78 lbs and two months from now, I would expect to be at around 90 some odd pounds, do you think that would be too soon for a tummy tuck considering I will still have 45 more pounds to go. He said he thought it would be fine, and he said since I am tall, it will be fine, what that has to do with it I will never know, but anyway what do yall think? I just don't want to have the TT too early and have a sagging belly 6 months later. Have you all known anyone who has had it that early? Thanks!! Kimberly

Hi Kimberly, I would wait. I had a tummy tuck(panniculectomy) in 1991 and have lost 62 lbs since then but still have about 40lbs left to go. I will tell you that I do have a flat stomach but they will have to redo the tummy tuck to fix the excess skin in my legs and else where. I'm going to get a lower body lift someday. I think it would be Ok but I don't think your going to be as satisfied with it unless you wait as long as possible. It's a difficult decision to make since you have to have surgery again anyways. I will tell you that it is a very painful surgery and you will not be able to exercise like you are now for some time so that may slow your weight loss down. Why don't you get two more plastic surgeon opinions? Ask them if you will need the lower body lift. Good luck, Syndi
