Well after 4 months I am only down 46 lbs. I am a bit bummed . I really thought I would be so much further down by now. In the last month I have only lost 5 lbs. Don't get me wrong I hate to whine & complain lol, just after all the complications, problems and the long hospital stay, I really wanted to see better results. I did join a gym and am now really increasing my level of activity. I get so envious when I read the boards here and see people down so much more than I am. I know we are all different but jeepers. (pity party here) Just needed to vent a little. HUGS to all of you Mary

Vent away Mary, vent away... We all need to vent from time to time. We certainly cannot deal with stress or let downs with food anymore and we definitly do not need to bottle it up. That is why I love these boards and our profiles. We can vent and folks who have been there can help you through it! You know what I mean?! Keep up the hard work and raise your spirits a bit sweetie, I know it is hard, the first time I plataeued I was like, WTF?! IT was hard but I made it through. With all that you have been through you KNOW that you can do this. Remember: ** Get in your water, protein & supplements! ** Get some kind of exercise (cardio) everyday! ** When you are ready build some muscle (lift weights or improvise at home with cans of food and stuff)... muscle burns more fat! ** Try to avoid snacking ** Journal! I found that if I keep a food journal I can identify patterns of eating and learn to deal with them. When I write down what I eat I make sure that I note why i was eating (hungry, planned meal, craving, whatever), what I was doing (watching tv, working, etc...) and who I was with (friends, family, etc..). I managed to identify that when I am with friends I love to GRAZE! (Bad girl, Jamie) I have also identified that when I am home alone for a long period of time I like to snack (because of loneliness) so now I am learning to deal with those! HTH! greetings mary another thing to keep in mind with regards to an individual's weight loss is what their starting weight was. i've had a loss of 102 lbs in almost 4 months, and i'm still over 100 lbs. away from your surgery day weight! i don't have statistics to back up this thought, but from just reading on this site, it seems that generally, the people with more lbs. to lose, go faster in the beginning. best of luck to you! deb

Hi Mary: I think a loss of 46 lbs is great!! I have been following some of the "slow losers" and even though we lose slowly, we still get to our goal. I will be 4 months at the end of this month and I have lost 50 lbs, thus far. Slow and steady gets you to goal, too. Have you been taking pictures of yourself? I know that helps me a lot. I take pictures every month. It helps to go back to before surgery pics and compare side by side to after surgery pics. Also, have you been doing with lost inches??? In other words, find a few non-scale ways to measure whether the surgery is a success. You will succeed, just keep your head up! (((((((((HUGS)))))))) Ms. Sassy

Yeah, and slow and steady means that you get to skip some of the crap us fast loosers have to deal with. It also gives your body a chance to tighten up the skin a bit! LOL! That is of course if you are young enough to have any elasticity left in your skin. Jamie

Just sending a little support your way. I am a little short of 4 months out and have lost 50 lbs since surgery. I get down and depressed too, but after viewing the rest of your responses, we have "company" out there who are creeping along with us. I haven't lost any weight this week again. But summer is coming and I'm keeping my spirits high by buying a few new summer things that I haven't been able to wear for 3 years. Hang in there, and maybe by this time next year, we'll we looking back and saying "why were we stressing." Dianne

Don't get discouraged, I too am losing slower than I thought I would. 56 lbs so far. But hey at least we are losing. The exercise will definately help. When my weightloss slowed down early on I picked up the exercise, and wham, the weight dropped. You are doing fine. Keep it up. Margo
