SERIOUS leg pain....

I was just wondering if any of you experienced leg pain. I am having such trouble with that. It first started a few weeks ago and the Dr. said it was probably just from the dramatic weight loss and that I must just be using different muscles than I had been. Well that turned into my left leg being numb in the back of it. I was then sent to have a test done to find out if I had a blood clot and I also got blood work. They decided that my blood was a little too thick so they fixed that and the problem that caused the numbness was actually a potassium deficiency. I've been on potassium powder for 2 weeks now and I'm getting more numb! Now both of my legs are numb at spots. I am also retaining a TON of fluid in my ankles, legs, and fingers which has never been a problem for me. I was sent for emergency blood work but they can't seem to find the problem. Did anyone else experience anything like this?? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Sarah

yes i did.....my right leg was numb from knee to back of my butt from the day after surgery till now, My surgeon told me it would go away and when it did not i went to my family docter and he sent me to a neurologist and he told me it was meralis paristis (not spelled right) and no one knows where it comes from or why very common after surgery especially women with c-sections....it goes away in 6-18 months, it has alot to do with the femoral nerve which causes the numbness, it has been almost 4 months and it is alot better almost gone other than some numbness above the knee on side of my thigh...all my bloods are perfect and that is only issue i have had that concerned me. In the begining i could feel the numbness getting worse like it was spreading and caused me a lot of discomfort in the begining especially trying to sleep but it seems to be on the mend so i am not that concerned about it...my initial assesment was i thought i had blood clots too...i went to emergency room and they ruled that out.

Thank you so much for your reply. What you described is very close to what I'm experiencing. I also feel like sleeping is impossible from the pain. At least now I have a direction to possibly point the Dr in because he seems to not have a clue. You're a big help!!! Sarah

Wow! I am so sorry you are having a problem. I will keep you in my prayers. Don't take no answer for an answer. The squeaky wheel gets the grease in medicine. Just keep asking and see a neurologist if need be or a vascular specialist if need be and keep tryng to find out why. Good Luck, Carolyn
