How much fat are you guys having daily? I know I am not supposed to worry so much about this now but I do. You see I can not eat allot of meats, so I get allot of protien from dairy, which can be high in fat, especially if you are getting the low carb smothies and bars. I am afraid I am getting to much. Like today I have had 51 grams. Jenn

It does sometimes feel like a struggle with our main focus being protein and water. I for the most part do pretty good on fat however, when I eat things that are good for me such as nuts, it does increase the fat pretty quickly. Same goes for carbs. I can do well on keeping my carbs low but then when I add in some whole wheat pasta, beans or fruit it really bumps up the carbs but these are good carbs. It just gets frustrating sometimes, at least for me. I was on a low carb diet pre-op for quite a few months, so a part of me has a hard time eating anything that has high carbs regardless if it's whole wheat. I'm just trying to re-train my thinking. Alrighty then, I just rambled on way too much...sorry Definitely talk to your nutrition and she will help you sort through this. If you journal what you eat everyday, be sure and take that with you so she/he can help you. Hope that helps Deanna

Hi Jenn! My tummy hates meat!! I do get in some dairy during the day too, but I have to say my protein comes from beans. I know they can be high in carbs, but good carbs, fiber and high protein. South Beach diet is happy with beans, and so am I. LOL I also have lots of salad if I am trying to eat meats. I will have a chicken ceasar salad because the lettuce will make the meat go down more smooth. (still can't get in much meat that way though.) I am a firm believer in the South Beach way, and so far I think it's working great for me. Sincerely, Sharon
