Poll: Thinking long-term or short?

Hey guys and ladies! I was just wondering what kind of goals we have set for ourselves. Everyone keeps asking me what I want to be in the end but I don't have a goal for that. In the end I just want to be as healthy as possible and don't want to focus on a number that might dissapoint me. BUT I do have a goal of being 100 pounds down by my 23rd birthday, July 28th. That would be six and a half months post-op. So far I am doing pretty good! Do you think that it is ok not to have a final goal? What kind of goals do you have? Have a great day! Jenny

Those monthly goals sound like a great idea. And 144 sounds very realistic. Maybe the reason I haven't set a final is because I am still so far away that I can't really "see" that far. When I get closer I will probably need something to aim for. Jenny 373 / 295 78 lbs

Great question! I do both. I set weekly goals and Long term. This weeks goal was to workout daily.(Didn't make it- kid's swimming took precedent) Long term goals are: 1. Drop below 200 by September. I am 242 right now. 2. Hit size 16 by October. 3. Hit size 14 by January 19th (1 yr. anniversary) 4. Hit size 12 and hold there!!! by March 1,2006 (my birthday) 5. BE HEALTHY!!!!!

I so understand feeling that the final goal is just t far away to look at it. i was very real with myself and said what was the least that you would be happy with, my answer was 200 pounds. So my final goal is 200 pounds now for the hard one I want to be there by Oct 1 my daughter's wedding day. That means that my weekly gaol has to be 5 pounds and that I must work out at least every other day. It has been going great so far. In the end what I really really want is to be healthy again. Peggy

Hi Jenny G, I think you are overwhelmed like me. I have goals that I pray everyday that I can meet but at the same time I am so thankful for the many that I have already met. My goals are both long and short. I am gonna be so happy if I see 199 lbs. Realistically, my goal weight is 150 lbs. Jenny I really feel that if you are living life to the fullest and you can do things that you couldn't before, You are reaching a goal everyday. It is nice to set goals and have something to work towards. You have to do what feels right to you. Don't let it discourage you regardless. Best wishes on whatever you choose. Felicia
