Poll: Hanging on or letting go?
What are you guys doing with your old clothes? Hanging on or getting rid of it as soon as it "falls off?" I have boxed up several things but need to go through a lot more - I can no longer wear anything that I could before. So I am trucking everything to the women's shelter. I am self-concious and uncomfortable in clothes that don't fit right so I stop wearing things as soon as I have to start tugging on them - and I want to wear my NEW size ASAP. Which of course is expensive but ego boosting. How about you guys?

I am keeping one pair of pre-op jeans for pictures, and that is it. I have to dress professional at work, and have tons of nice suits. I have been selling my "good" clothes on E-bay. I have made over $200 so far. I figure I can use the extra $$ for my new clothes. I too like to wear things that fit. I try to keep it simple and have a couple of black slacks and jeans, and I alternate. I admit that I am a clothing and shoe "hog" But, I am selling, donating, and bringing clothes to clothing exchanges. My husband is so happy to have some of his closet space back.
I am tossing everything as fast as I can. I HATE my fat clothes. I give them to our maid for her daughter. She is having WLS in December. I found a great resale shop for slightly used designer clothes; Anne Klein,Versace, and even a Bob Mackie black ****tail dress for $22.00!!!!(original:$240.00) They have jeans, too. But I am saving my $$$ for the big shopping spree when I hit goal. Then........LOOK OUT!!!! There is a store here called Sylvia's that has gorgeous clothes ($$$$$$$$$$$$).They give you wine while you shop (too drunk to look at the prices?) I will walk through the door when they open and stay until closing or when I drop(whichever comes first) stopping for lunch at the sushi bar next door.
I may also go to the Galleria in Houston for a real spree at Needless Markup (Neiman Marcus,he,he,he). I LOVE their shoes, purses, and other accessories. Just think; I can wear the clothes till they WEAR OUT and they will STILL FIT cause I will be the SAME SIZE. WOW!!!
I think I may even have a seamstress friend make a couple of originals for me. He,He,He.
I recently gave away most of my size 24~28 jeans to a friend. It was hard to do though because in the past (before surgery) shortly after every weight loss attempt I've made, I've re-gained the weight and then some. My mom and aunt did the same thing so I grew up with the idea that you always "save your fat clothes just in case". Giving those jeans away is telling me sub-conciously that I'm not going back there again. I don't ever plan on wearing my "fat clothes" again. I will however hang on to one outfit-the dress I wore to my oldest daughter's wedding.

I can't get rid of mine fast enough! I kept one pair of size 26jeans (that i wore to the hospital the day of surgery) and I just gave all my 24/26 shorts to a cousin who needed them to go on vacation (needless to say, I was MORE than happy to give them to her). I gave 4 bathing suits to another cousin (kept a 1 piece, b/c it fit...the rest were "tankinis") and just yesterday gave every single sweater I own to my other cousin. So, my 3 female cousins are making out nicely! I'm adding only a few shirts, pants to my wardrobe, since about 1x a month im down another size.
I am like you Jenny, As soon as something looks baggy on me and makes me look like I have gained weight... it is gone! Yes, it is very expensive but I did not come this far to let a few dollars come in the way of looking good and FEELING good about myself. KWIM? SO I had boxed upo everything and sold them for $5 a walmart bag at my yard sale. What is left is going to the gastric bypass support meeting tonight. If anything is left it is going to the ARC!
Brightest Blessings for a Wonderful Day~
