Depression?
I seem to be having tiny bouts of depression lately. It isn't bad enough to warrant going to my phych doctor for but I was wondering if anyone else is having this too? I usually have depression and mood swings at that wonderful time of the month for us women, but they seem to be worse now than before. Is this what the doctor warned me about with the hormone thing?

I am also experiencing mood swings. My doctor says that this is normal and he could prescribe something for me but I don't think I can stand to take another pill. He said that when my weight loss slows a bit, it should get better. I want the weight loss, I'll deal with the mood swings and everybody else better deal with them too!
Hi Kim,
I to have been experiencing bouts of depression. Thankfully they don't last to long but they can be so severe sometimes I find my self crying over a commercial !! The rest of the time I can't stop smiling ! My range of emotions is all over the place but I wouldn't give up this weight loss for anything. Even with all the tears it's still worth it. I guess it's just another step down the road to the new me.

Hey Kimmie
I have battled depression since about 2mo post op SEVERELY
My PCP first put me on 150mg of Wellbutrin XL, that was fine until I started losing MORE weight, so he upped the dose to 300mg per day and I'm FINE now LOL
I know it's a pain, but it goes along with the rapid weight loss and the release of super amts of hormones our bodies can't handle!!
You might want to talk to your PCP ok? Don't wait!

Kim,
You and me both, girl. Depression runs in my family and I have had it for years. But lately, OMG! Off the scale. Wacko thoughts, tears for no reason, and "don't get in my way" thoughts. They are worst during aunt flo's visits, but the rest of the time I am happy, happy, joy, joy. My doctor said that they were a side effect of rapid weight loss for women. Not men, though. Damn them! Hang in there, and feel free to email me anytime. I am an expert on the subject, unfortunately.

Okay... feeling a bit PMs-ey... There's a chemical reason for this problem while women lose weight. The estrogen hormone likes to tuck itself away in the fat molecule... when you start losing your fat molucules rapidly, the estrogen doesn't have anywhere to hang out and reenters your blood stream and you have an abundance of estrogen - hence the feeling of PMsing 24/7. The body eventually levels its estrogen to the normal range, once you've reached or are near your goal weight; however, until that time, when someone says "raging hormones" this is the reason why
Thanks to all for responding. I am feeling better today, but over the weekend the hormones/depression thing was outta control. I normally take my feelings out on my husband and this is really putting a strain on my marriage. I think I will take the advise given and call my PCP and see if there is anything she can do.
Love you all,
Kim
