Hey January's I feel as if I'm STUCK... On Sunday, I weighed 265, today I'm back up to 268?? WTF? Anyways, I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I exercise EVERYDAY for at least an hour, to 2 hours I walk at least 3 miles per day... I just don't get it... Here's what I have (on average, it's about the same thing everyday, minimal changes) B-Atkins Morning Start triple berry cereal (1/2c), CC milk (1/4c), 2oz strawberries, 1oz banana. NO SNACKS ( I don't know why I'm not losing?) L-3oz chicken and cheese (inside of a burrito) no shell S-nothing D-1.5c romaine lettuce, 1tbsp Ranch (lite), 2oz chicken, 2 saltines, 1slice tomato (only ate 2/3 of the salad, had a bunch leftover), Hunt's sugar free/fat free pudding cup Water-30oz (I'm still working on this) So anyone have suggestions to why I'm fluctuating so terribly? I just don't understand?? ~*~*~Beth~*~*~ 329.4/265/140 http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/profile.phtml?N=H1077226915

Try NOT exercising one day. Yes, I know..heresy. Still, my doctor said that the body is desparately trying to maintain and looks for routine(ANY) to hang onto as long as possible. He recommends exercising every other day to give the body time in between to adjust. Or, working cardio one day and weights the next. Walking is still the best, he says. Also, vary your caloric intake from day to day. One day, add some big protein items and a little carbs, like breakfast of eggs, lunch-chicken or egg salad, have a snack of string cheese and a hunk of fish for dinner. Then go lite the next day, soups and protein drinks. Don't despair. I just lost 14 lbs. in a week after two weeks of very slow loss. Of course, I was sick with a bug...lol...but I didn't exercise and still ate a lot (even popcorn) and I lost more than when I was being little miss perfect and following all the rules. Cheat a little and see what happens!BTW, I gained 4 lbs. before my big drop. I think it was water gain.

Hi Beth! I know exactly how you feel! Last month I was panicking because it seemed like I was not losing weight, and I thought something must be wrong since I was only 3 months post op last month. I e-mailed my surgeon several times, and the one thing that he kept emphasizing to me was that muscle weighs more than fat, and as my body changed, the scale does not always reflect the changes because of this reason. You are doing just great with your meals and also your exercising! I would not worry at all. I made that mistake and I was so depressed for awhile. Just keep up the good work and congratulations! Hope this helps! Aloha, Pat

I was awful yesterday with my diet and exercise, so I will not post what I ate. I mainly ate protein bars and protein drinks (I know, shame on me). My liquids were also not where they should have been Oh Beth, I am so sorry you feel stuck right now. You really are doing great with your weight loss and I am sure things will pick up again, because you are doing all the right things. You and some others on this site have been an inspiration to me with your WLS journeys so far. I have had similar issues in the past with not losing for several days/weeks. I then start thinking that I the surgery has stopped working for me or I will gain all my weight back, etc, and I know this thinking is hard to break. My cycle of weight loss has been 1 or 2 weeks without any loss (or fluctuating up and down a few pounds) and then 1 or 2 weeks with some loss. If you check your measurements you might be surprised to see that you are still getting smaller even though the scale doesn't show it. You said you are working on increasing your water intake and I have a mixed opinon on whether that would actually help with the weight loss. Someone told me that he drinks a whole lot of water right before his 30 minutes before eating to curb the appetite in addition to his regular increased water intake. When I tried this it really helped decrease my appetite a lot (though by your food log, you don't seem to have a problem wanting to eat too much like me!). Also, since I increased my exercise to 1 hour, I have to drink more now because of all the water lost when exercising. Try to keep your spirits up and remember that you WILL see results again soon! Stalls bite...plain and simple. Just keep doing what you know is right. One thing is that you do want to make sure you are changing things around. Our bodies get use to a routine so move things around...both eating and exercising. I was on a 5 week stall and then lost some weight for a week and it looks like I'm on another stall so you're not alone!! Hang in there girly and do measure yourself because you are losing inches even though the scale is being evil. Deanna
