Sodium/salty foods?

I am really craving salty foods lately so am trying to figure out why we have to limit the amount of sodium we consume (at least I was told to limit the sodium). The only reason I can think of is that it might make me retain water. Anyone know of any other reasons why? I guess it is better to crave the salty stuff rather than the sugary stuff? SueZ

Sue, Not sure why. But I occassionally crave salt also. Just usually cew on a small piece of jerky. Not really a fan of jerky but after chewing a few minutes I lose the craving and toss the jerky. HUGS Mary

Actually it is just as bad to crave the salty stuff or the sugar stuff. Typically they are both high in calories and fat! LOL! And most folks will eat salty and then go eat sweet! The reason why we limit our sodium is to cut down on excess water retention as well as keeping the blood pressure under control!
