Felled by sickness and dead computer
What a week! My computer died (no email for a week...argh!!!), my aunt flo arrived bearing cramps unparalled, and I caught a nasty bug with sore throat, fever, chills, and pains. Oh, yes...I also am beginning menopause.
Depression, wild thoughts, feelings of low self worth. I am a mess.
A few minutes ago, my daughter Dee Dee (age three) climbed into my lap, made herself comfortable, and as she was drifting off to sleep, said " Mommy's soft pillow got bones".
It took me a minute, too! LOL! She meant that my fat body (her pillow)had some new hard places (collar and hip bones). Little Angel! sigh.
I really missed being online here with my amigas. This has become a second home to me, and the only place to vent my feelings where I KNOW you will understand. Jaime, Sue,Beth, Becky, and others...Thanks!
Sorry you have had such a bad week and feeling so bad. Hope you are back to feeling better soon. Glad you got the computer fixed or got a new one. I don't know what I would do without my computer. I really rely on it so much, especially since surgery.
Dee Dee will just have to put a real pillow on your lap the next time she wants to relax--LOL. (Kids are great!).

Lou Ann, You were missed!! I am so sorry about your Computer, ours was messing up and so we went and bought another one back in Jan. It works great! Also sorry you got sick!!!
That is so cute what your daughter said. Isn't it good to not be a "pillow" anymore???? I don't want to be the pillow for my family.
Remember to keep your chin up and you can keep going!! You are doing great!! It is hard sometimes because we do have down times and they are so much harder to deal with now that we can't use our comfort which was food. Now we have to deal with everything and it is tough. Try to think positive and tomorrow will be another day. Hopefully a better one for you!!
Here is to sending you positive thoughts and some January board love!!!!
Take care,
Becky P.
Dear Lou Ann,
Just had to post. Your sweet angel Dee Dee! What a cutie. Since I'm a Dee Dee to all my close friends, relatives, that caught my eye. Secondly, I would hate to be without my computer, as it's my life line a lot of the time too, so I can feel your pain there. I am done with menopause, whew. It can have you all over the place mentally and physically. Hang in there, and if you find yourself trying to drown yourself at 3:00 A.M. just to stop the hot flashes, than by all means, email me for a pep talk.
This week, I should have reached out to my January "peers" as I had a horrible depression creep in on Wednesday and bring me to my knees. It's this slow weight loss. But I've regrouped and plodded along until this week is almost over. I lurk more than post, but I'm familiar with you, and all the other nice January acquaintances.
Good luck!
Dianne
Thanks, Diane! Lurking, huh? Sounds gothic and mysterious to me!
I have been following your concerns over slow weight loss. Even though I have lost 56 lbs. I STILL feel like the weight loss is slow. This seems to be the problem for a lot of people, and I suspect it is what makes them quit conventional diets.
Cheer up. My friend had WLS two years ago and in her first four months only lost 25 lbs. She used to claim to be a WLS "failure". Last month, she finally reached her goal weight! TWO YEARS!!! (of course if she had done a little bit of exercise....oh well.) She claims that she eats the same as before. But I remember how she used to eat. She is Cleopatra, The queen of Denial! LOL. I watched her eat an entire Large cheese and mushroom pizza by herself, with bread sticks, salad, and three refills of Coke before the surgery. Now she eats only the salad and diet coke.
I think she has the slowest metabolism on the planet! BTW, she looks GREAT!! (but still thinks she looks fat!!) She lost 150 lbs. and wears a size 10.
Keep the Faith!!
Lou Ann, I am going to take the news about your slow losing friend and grab on to it like a drowning person just finding a life boat. I thought that your honeymoon period of the first 6 months was where you would lose 2/3 of your weight and everything after that would be mincemeat. I do know I have a slow metabolism(every fat person says it-right)but I took that metabolism test at BWI and had the news presented in black and white. It accompanied some "oh, I'm sorry to tell you" but that didn't cushion the blow. Thanks again for the feedback. And good luck with that menopause onset. Just make sure you have a good fan handy, winter or summer, and an informed sensitive husband. I only had one of the two, and it wasn't the latter.
