apples???
 I Julie
I have been eating fruit since about 3 wks post op. I tried banana 1st with no problem and had that in my smoothie. Then watermellon and cantelope no problems. Recently I have been doing grapes and oranges. I love oranges. All you can do is try a little bit and see how it goes. Just try two grapes, or 1\4 or an orange to see if you will have any problems. That is what I did.

Well in the beginning I just sucked the oranges and really was getting mostly the juice, and some of the pulp. But now I can eat an entire orange and I seem to have no problems doing so. I never eat the skin on apples, but then I never did pre-op either. I never liked it so, now I would not even consider it. But yes I chew well like we are suppose to do. So far no fruits have caused me any concern.
I eat small helpings of apples and bananas almost every day, which are my favorite fruits. I do not eat the skin on the apples yet. I have been eating apples for about 2 months. When I first started eating apples I was told not to eat the skins, but think it probably would be okay now, just have not asked and am too afraid to take any chances until I know for sure. I had applesauce when I was on the purred stage right after surgery and had trouble tolerating it (gave me diarrhea
--maybe the sugar?). I waited a few weeks until I could just eat the apples (cut up very small) and had no trouble at that point. I can eat up to 1/2 of a small apple with a meal that includes only cheese or only peanut butter or some other protein (but I can eat more than most people). Most other fruits are fine also.
