Hi Januarys My DR told me (the surgeon) that I was 200# overweight. This I know VERY WELL So, "HIS" goal for me was/is to lose 50% of my excess body weight. I weighed 329.4 on the day of surgery. That means, losing 101# I would be at 228# and I DO NOT want to remain there at his goal. Now, I'm 5'4", and my PCP, surgeon AND personal trainer (a few yrs back) told me that with my height, body frame and genetic makeup, I should be no more than 140# and no LESS than 120# MEANING... I have to lose AT LEAST 200# Anyone else in this situation? I asked my DR(surgeon) if that goal was attainable, and he said SURE IT IS!! BUT I have to WORK HARD at diet & step up my exercise (meaning making it hurt ) and continuously watch what I put in my body, making the right food choices, and EVERYTHING in moderation. Which, in MHO is sound advice for me and everyone, basically. I'm just so worried that I will be "stuck" at around 200 or so...that's not BAD at all...I'm VERY thankful for my WL so far, but I do have a personal goal, and to achieve that would mean I AM ABLE TO ACCOMPLISH SOMETHING in my life. It's a mind trick...I know, and I am dealing more with emotional issues than I am with this WLS but I just wanted to throw this question out there to my fellow Jan's to see where we all lie with having this much to lose. Any advice? Thanks, Beth

Beth: Look at Tooter's profile. She lost over 200 lbs over 20-22 months. So she even lost after the so called "window of opportunity". Good luck!

Yes I have more then 200 to lose. My doctor said I should lose ab out 70% from surgery. If I work hard and excercise I can get to a nice weight of 150 or so. Jenn

Yes, when I started this journey I officially had 200 lbs to lose and I'm on my way. It won't be easy and it will take time but it will happen! This losing weight thing is kind of fun Deanna

oh yes honey I started the journey at 386 I am now down to 327 and feeling great. My personal goal is to be under 200 lbs i would like to get down to 175 where I was when I got married. I fight the head thing every day all the time but I also know that I am doing better than I ever have before in my dieting career. You are young you should have less trouble getting to your goal, than most. I will say that our biggest gaol should be better health not just the weight, that is what I have to keep telling myself. Good Luck sweet heart you are doing great and look great. Peggy
