3 MONTH POSTOP CHECKUP WITH SURGEON
Hiya Januarys!
I went for my 3mo post op checkup Friday the 22nd and he was all smiles throughout the entire meeting. My surgeon said I am in the top of the class when it comes to success. He says his "goal" was for me to lose 101#s and I'm over halfway to the goal. I know I am 200#s overweight, but he only wanted me to reach the goal of losing 50% of my EXCESS body weight. My PERSONAL goal is to reach anywhere between 140 and 120 (for my frame & height). I'm so excited He says I'm doing the right things, especially exercising, and making the right food choices, and he says I can even have a diet coke (or whatever kind I want) once in a while and it will not affect me or hurt me. But it may cause a bit of gas, that's all. He even said I can have popcorn. Basically, moderation is the key. Not EVERYDAY eating habits like I used to have. I've lost 61#s since January, 101#s in all (since highest weight May of 2004). I'm SOOOOOOO thankful. I ran up 2 flights of stairs today while I went to study at the lab at school! NEVER could I have done that a year ago from today!
I can't wait to hear about everybody's checkups! Congrats to all the losers
Keep me posted on your success, please, because it helps motivate me and keep me in line, too, since we're all Januarys!
Beth
Wow Beth, you are doing great--101 lbs already!! Congratulations on such a good visit with the doctor.
I have been wondering about diet soda also. I will have to specifically ask my dietician about that. I think she said the same thing, that it is okay once in awhile. I was so hooked on Diet Coke before surgery, I have been afraid to even have one for fear that I will end up having several a day like before. But the other night I really wanted to have just a sip and it is nice to hear that it will not hurt us.
I had my 3-month checkup also and the doctor was very positive. I am finally starting to get more energy and get out of my depression somewhat, so I am pleased. I still have to work very hard at the diet and exercise, because I am hungry all the time and can eat anything. I am not like some others that the weight just comes off fairly easily and they are having trouble just getting in enough calories each day. But, I am thankful for this tool. I am just now starting to believe that the weight I have lost might just stay off and I will not regain it. I am also working really hard (through therapy!) to be proud of myself for the control I have so far. It is hard to believe it has been 3 months since I have had sweets, bad carbs and caffeine. It bothers me a lot less now to see my family indulging in these things, because I am finally starting to see/feel the positive results of resisting those things.
Congrats again!

Hi Beth!
Congrats on your success! My 3 month appt is this coming Wednesday, but I am going to reschedule for the following week because my schedule is very hectic this week. I have lost anywhere from 40 to 45 lbs. Then I will have less than 80 lbs to go until I reach my personal goal of 150.

Hi Beth, You are doing so good. Keep up the good work. 101#'s total is awesome. You must be so proud of yourself I went in for my 3 month check up today. They said every thing looked good. I was kinda worried about my blood work but I was told that I was getting everything I needed. I am down 63 #'s since surgery, I lost 14 before surgery for a total of 77#'s. I have been getting on the scale everyday for 2 weeks because I have been going up and down from 204 to 201 and just wanted to see the scale say 199 well, today was the day I'm finally under 200 #'s. Now don't think I'm strange but I got out the camera and took a picture of the scales numbers saying 199. My husband is in the Navy and had to go on a 6 month deployment when I was 9 days post-op so I'm going to send him the picture of the scale and my feet at 199 he'll have to wait to see the rest of me

That is such a cute idea! You should spoil yourself and get a pedicure and a nice toe ring and then take the picture again! LOL! Then he can see how pretty your feet are and then fantacize about the rest of you! LOL!
I took a picture of myself next to those big ancient scales that the Army uses and sent it with hubby when he went to "A$$-crack-astan" he kept it in his wallet and on the back kept writing the new numbers I would give him everytime he called! LOL! Needless to say he was shocked with the 45 pound loss when he came back.
Now I hear about his "lusts" all the darn time. He is getting mad at me for not going and getting a new professional picture for his desk yet. I keep telling him to let me go another two more months and before he leaves for BNCOC I will go get one of those "glamour shots" type of deals for him!
Brightest Blessings for a Wonderful Day~
